The Fig I've Been Dreaming Of
Among Ortigia’s offerings, Fico d’India stands out as my favorite and perhaps the only one I’m seriously considering adding to my collection.

This fragrance is a breath of fresh fig, green and sunlit, as if plucked straight from the tree. Floating around it, I sense a citrusy sparkle - bergamot maybe? Or could it be a soft whisper of orange blossom? Whatever it is, it adds a bright shimmer to the fig, lifting it with a light, almost oriental breeze.

It’s simply beautiful. A scent that feels effortless, natural, and luminous, like Sicily in a bottle.

almost atypical for a perfume, a delicious, comforting scent
Little fruity sweetness, rather herbaceous fruity, a creamy nutty almond accord with floral fruity orange blossom on a somewhat fresh cedar accord.
A round composition, for me rather mild fruity with an appealing light woody base.
Fragrance composition with good sillage and good longevity (6-7 hours), not overwhelming but pleasantly present, mild without falling into the vanilla or tonka trap. For ladies and gentlemen, almost atypical for a perfume, more of a delicious, comforting personal scent.

I had this Ortigia filled up yesterday at L. so that I can test it in peace. Today I regret not having bought it!

The scent is simple, but really well done! Finally, a fig scent that smells like fig, doesn’t develop a strange herbaceous note, and doesn’t drift into being too sweet.

The scent progression is linear and beautifully supports the prickly pear. The orange blossom gives it a slight freshness at the beginning, and the sandalwood adds a subtle woodiness to the fig in the base, encouraging it to last longer.

The longevity is quite decent, and the presence is moderate. Since it contains natural ingredients, you should definitely test the scent on your skin.

I forgot to mention something in my comment about Ambra Nera. Although the packaging for Ortigia Aqua Colonia states otherwise, it is generally Eau de Toilette.

Prickly Figs
As some may know, I am always crazy about fig scents, as I not only like the fruit itself but also the scent of it, which, as often happens, smells more intense in perfumes than in reality. But anyway, here comes another fig scent, more specifically a prickly pear scent, the kind that grows between prickly cacti (oh come on, admit it, you’ve all been pricked by cacti at some point... and then only cursed afterward!...).
But even they, these figs, smell great, although they are a bit weak. However, the scent comes in a rather nice bottle.

The scent:
Despite the unisex designation, I feel that the scent starts off quite feminine. Just before you perceive the fig, the fragrance smells more green-floral with a hint of sweet notes. But then you notice the prickly pear. What is the difference from a regular fig? I’m not exactly sure, but here it smells a bit more robust and not as green-fruity as one usually knows. But that doesn’t mean it’s bad; the prickly pear smells simply excellent, just a bit weak, but that’s how the whole scent is. Orange blossoms seem to be completely absent, but a little cedarwood comes in later and forms a good foundation that harmonizes well with the fig scent and probably makes it a bit longer-lasting, which is definitely necessary since the scent has no great longevity without the wood.
Moreover, you can still smell the neroli in the base at some point; it’s in the background and is almost overshadowed by the wood, which seems to get stronger by the minute.

Longevity and sillage:
The longevity is average, lasting about four to six hours on the skin.
As for the sillage: right when you spray it, you immediately think, “Okay, this isn’t going to work!”
And unfortunately, that’s true. From the very beginning, the scent is very close to the body and can only be perceived for a short time. After that, you have to practically throw yourself at the wearer to be able to notice it (the scent).

The bottle:
The bottle is rectangular and transparent. On the front, the logo (tree and animals) of Ortigia is prominently displayed, which already looks exotic due to its motif. The cap is black and trapezoidal. All in all, a very beautiful bottle.
However, the image in the photo here shows the shower gel!

Fico d’India (why India, by the way? The prickly pears were inspired by those from Sicily…) is a lovely fig scent with a woody base that comes across as light and casual but very fragrant.

It is thus perfectly created for warm days in spring and summer, but if you want to use it, it should be decanted into a travel spray to be able to reapply it regularly. It lasts for a short while, but after two hours, you mostly just smell “something woody,” so a refresh would be beneficial.

Even though I initially wrote that the scent starts off feminine, it does become unisex later, perhaps due to the woody notes. In any case, it is wonderful, so it should be tested. Maybe you’ll like it so much that you curse a little less when you find your fingers once again among the thorns of a cactus…

Just had a heated conversation with my girlfriend.
I crave harmony and am more peace-loving than Switzerland - but when someone steps on my toes, I say loud and clear: Ouch!

My temperament sometimes gets in the way.

Now I’m reflecting on whether I was perhaps too prickly?

What fragrance suits my mood better than Fico - the scent with the prickly pear?

But in the opening, an unexpected marzipan aroma soothes my spirit.
As delicious as a fragrant raisin snail from the baker.
I didn’t see that coming.

Then the sweetly fruity prickly pear makes its entrance, but completely without thorns.
The sunny orange blossom also puts me in a mild mood, conveying warmth.
The smoky cedar suggests to me to pack the peace pipe.

This fragrance has temperament - but well-measured.
I think: What does it have to do with me? - and I have to smile.

It has said exactly the right thing to me - and tomorrow I will enjoy delicious raisin snails with my girlfriend in harmony.

Exotic fig with a prominent cactus note.

Great summer scent, brings me back to summer Sicilian heat, sweet - powdery flowers and fruits hanging from a tree.
More feminine leaning.

Creamy (almost cocoa buttery) and green, I can't say that it's exactly fig leaf but definitely adjacent. Better longevity than Philosykos.

Juicy fig with woody undertones, slightly green, slightly bitter, slightly sweet. H/S ok

Dry, green + herbaceous cactus fig, nothing like the "normal" fig. No juiciness. With spicy cedarwood + rather masculine.

Dry, clean, smooth, and sleek, hardly fruity and without opulence. Unfortunately, it reminds me of laundry detergent.

A pretty sweet fig, quickly joined by spicy cedar, the scent quickly turns strongly masculine, somehow reminiscent of Old Spice.

The scent born in the shade of fig trees.
Authentic fig with dry-woody green.
Photorealistic, beautiful, underrated.
