Art.
Even after the first spray, I know: There is history in this, there is wit in this, it is something special. But what is it that it reminds me of? It’s a lot, so much that I can’t initially separate it, I’m simply overwhelmed by the abundance. But in a different way than with my floral cornucopia descriptions, which perhaps some loyal readers of mine know.
Here, there is an artificially seeming powder cornucopia. And strangely enough, I like this artificiality; it truly has something to do with art in my nose, and it’s art that incorporates a little humor. Careful Hot conjures a grin on my face: It’s like being able to laugh at oneself. In light of the memories, at the end of the eighties in the disco, oneself in garish colors that didn’t suit, with shoulder pads that made one look like a professional baseball player.
But that’s just the little joke on the side, these memories. Now I’m starting to piece it together: There’s also a hint of lipstick scent in it that makes me think of the past. Is it still the 70s? In any case, this light almond note existed in some lipsticks and makeup long ago, and it still exists like a bridge over the last decades, like a secret classic that was never named as such.
Beyond these associations comes a gentle yet intense almond scent that envelops everything in an atmosphere as if one were in the land where milk and honey flow, as if one were cozily snuggled up on the sofa with a hot amaretto milk, watching a satirical film about one’s own past on TV, chuckling. How could one have worn such an intense deodorant back then, still from spray bottles with CFCs, which smelled so intensely that a perfume was unnecessary or would simply fade away. Yes, after a few hours, Careful Hot smells like a deodorant; I can’t recall which one, that was very popular at the end of the 80s. I believe I had it too; otherwise, I wouldn’t suddenly remember it. It has a minimally sharp, floral undertone, but also here dipped in fine amaretto milk.
Careful Hot lasts a good eight hours.
Should I write something about the pyramid? That can be done quickly:
Soft, wonderful almond, attributed to Stephanotis, only minimal citrus in the top note, but sweet, intense, and lasting Stephanotis and Heliotrope shape the top, heart, and base notes. I always perceive Heliotrope as somewhat artificial, as here too, but it doesn’t become too much; rather, it integrates finely. The artificially distorted lily I only sporadically detect, partly already in the top note, and the floral aspect of the heart note, which evokes the deodorant memory, also seems somewhat artificial. Nevertheless, I don’t find it disturbing here either. In the base, patchouli joins in, which I wouldn’t have detected on its own, but it surely contributes to my delight in the still predominantly almond-powdery base.
Careful Hot combines the somewhat quirky 80s with a powder classic feeling, disco with concert hall, takes these facets of lived life, connects them with today, reassembles them, creating only a slightly sweet powder gourmand, so that our lives appear as a whole despite all the contradictions, we can forgive ourselves our follies, take the past into the present, laugh at ourselves, and take our lives lightly. Careful Hot is thus quite modern.
I was never in that Munich disco. But I think: Concept successful and executed flawlessly.
Thank you, TIA1971, for the lovely swap!
