Goes with a black ruffled blouse
Most people probably order clothes from a Gothic shop, and then maybe some perfume to go with it. For me, it was the other way around, thanks to my Parfumo-inspired passion for discovery. This one was exclusively meant for me, while the others (Bizarre Leidenschaft, Lokis Malice) were more for getting to know and gifting.
Black Cherry starts off intensely and richly smelling of sour cherry. On paper, it also has bitter almond, but that doesn’t come through strongly on the skin. Instead, it smells a bit like clove oil on the skin. Unfortunately, the intensity fades very quickly, and there’s no pleasant development on the skin; it even smells somewhat chemical. This could be due to the denatured alcohol that Parfum Noire uses for their creations. However, my boyfriend said it smelled like cookies, at least in that close-to-skin stage.
Even on paper, the scent later transforms towards clove. Patchouli can be sensed in the background the whole time; it makes this perfume special, evokes thoughts of black parties, and yes, it simply develops best on a black ruffled blouse ;) The typical patchouli scent also lingers on the clothing for a long time (until the washing machine), strangely enough, since it didn’t come through so prominently before.
So, this is not an erotic skin caresser, but a perfume for little money that definitely doesn’t smell mainstream like Douglas, but gives you a Victorian patchouli aura and the desired touch of oddity.
A big plus for me are the bottles, as they are screw-top; you can mix in something else, for example, jasmine oil could enhance this one, or use the bottles later for your own blends. They are those apothecary bottles made of very dark blue glass, which I really like. The labels always have little pictures of the fragrance ingredients printed on them, which looks quite nice and alchemical.
