Toxic Love

She had finally done it! She had been planning it for a long time. Always indecisive about doing it. He would never have let her go, that was clear. He would have found her wherever she had hidden. How had she once loved him? This handsome and fantastically good-looking man. Intelligent, cultured, and so seductive. The dream of every woman. But only on the outside! He changed quickly after the wedding. It started with his need for control. Followed by jealousy and mistrust. Ultimately, there came humiliations, emotional cruelty, and finally physical violence. That was enough. More than enough! She looked out the window and lit a cigarette. Then she glanced over her shoulder at the dining table. He was still sitting there. Where else would he be? After all, he was dead! The tea in front of him was still steaming, and the cake laced with cyanide hadn’t even been half eaten. Cyanide works very quickly, she had read. True!

With elegant steps, she approached his lifeless body. His head was thrown back, hanging with his mouth and eyes wide open over the backrest of the chair. She closed his eyes and looked at him. His full, sensual lips had turned bluish-purple. Even in death, they looked as seductive as ever. In a trance, she leaned down to him and wanted to give him one last kiss goodbye. He still had power over her. Even now,... frightening! But the smell emanating from his half-open mouth quickly brought her back to reality in a disturbingly pleasant way. She could almost see the imaginary, toxic vapors of cyanide escaping from his mouth. Orange, yellow, and slightly iridescent-shimmering. What a beautiful scent of prussic acid. A bit like marzipan, bitter almond, or the flowers of heliotrope on a warm summer night. Lightly underscored by soft chemical and synthetic wafts. Caressing, gently clean, and also a bit piercing. Attractive yet so repelling. Seductive, soft, creamy, and yet so deadly. She tenderly stroked his face once more with the words... You smell delicious, mon chéri! And dreamily left the room!

Conclusion
Who says poisons smell bad? One of the most distinctive and easily recognizable is probably cyanide. If one can even smell it! Not everyone can smell it. For many noses, it is imperceptible like a molecular scent, and for others, it is more than obvious. Madeleine from Parfumerie Particuliére comes very close to this poison in terms of scent and impression. Madeleine obviously smells of bitter almond. Delicate notes of crushed, almost creamy fresh almonds blend with the marzipan-sweet scent of heliotrope. A metallic-cool musk runs through Madeleine and gives the fragrance a seductive and chemically-synthetic note. This is by no means unpleasant. Madeleine smells very attractive but also, on the other hand, very irritating. It is emotionally difficult to categorize and plays with coolness and warmth. Madeleine is very treacherous in its sillage and longevity. At times, one thinks they can no longer smell or perceive the fragrance, but in the next second, they are caught again by a creeping cloud of gourmand, sweet-metallic scent notes. The fragrance follows delayed like a shadow. The longevity of Madeleine is enormous for an apparently light semi-gourmand. The perfume lasts easily eight hours on the skin. On clothing, even several days. What do I think of it? Dubious, alluring, and incredibly delightful!

Madeleine,... to die for beautiful!

What a captivating and profound crime story! With your storytelling style, you feel like an observer right in the middle of the action within seconds.
I’m not familiar with the scent, but you’ve described it incredibly well. I love bitter almonds and their fragrance, and since heliotrope and bergamot are also mentioned in the fragrance pyramid, I’d probably enjoy it a lot.

Now I know why the man by my side always keeps his distance when I wear scents with heliotrope and bitter almond, ;-). And it’s true: You and DrGourmand would make an unbeatable author duo when it comes to crime commentary!

I'm surprised that no marketing strategist has thought of listing cyanide as a fragrance note yet. I'm sure no one at ELDO has come up with that idea either ;)

Well written. But she shouldn't smoke anyway, it's unhealthy. You want to live a long time after getting rid of your tormentor.

Very well-written comment. Others write about marzipan, you write about poison murder. That really makes you think.

Watchlist! As long as it doesn't just smell like baking aroma. But that does sound intriguing.

Back then, I wrote something about "cozy" and so on... but I really didn't have any background info while testing. I can clearly remember the scent; I think it's a gourmand. You really have ideas that would fit perfectly in a movie. Definitely super exciting. And the beginning of the story... I can relate to that all too well from my own, very painful experience. It's just that violence, poison, and graves are neither a solution nor a way to find freedom... Literature and imagination are.

Thanks for the warning, I'm not a big fan of almond scent in perfumes. I'm currently wondering if the name Madeleine is derived from that French almond pastry. Seems likely.

Insidious... :) just like the scent, it seems to me. You always manage to create a very special, intense atmosphere through your stories that logically continues in the character of the fragrance. I'm captivated!

Since I saw you spending the day with MADELEINE in the early morning hours, I was expecting this comment. You not only understood her, but you also gave her soul a home, like only a fragrance storyteller can. A fascinating story that I really enjoyed. Even if it should be my last.

Morbid, profound, and yet I can understand. The scent must be something else if it evokes such images. I do like the smell of almonds and marzipan, although less as a perfume. But I prefer the non-toxic versions ;-) Great and thought-provoking comment from you!
