Founded in France in 2016 by Guillaume Mantel and his long-time friend Charles Rousseau, Parfumerie Particulière is inspired by urban lifestyle and contemporary art. Sober and sometimes seemingly strange fragrance creations fit in with the brand's stylistic appearance.
In 2018, the eight unisex fragrances from the first collection were presented at the Esxence exhibition in Milan. They were created by two renowned French perfumers, Amélie Bourgeois and Anne-Sophie Behaghel. Italian tattoo artist Pietro Sedda was commissioned to illustrate the brand's collection for the eight different box artworks.
One of the brand's best-known fragrances is Black Tar, which features a concrete accord and a tar accord based on labdanum resin. Presented in a black and gray bottle, this fragrance symbolizes the impressions the brand wants to create.
The materials used to make the caps and bottles of Parfumerie Particulière reflect the brand's urban style both visually and haptically. The fragrance house commissioned Francesco Passaniti, a French sculptor with Italian roots, to create handmade concrete caps from ultra-high-performance fiber-reinforced concrete (UHPC). These adorn the engraved bottles, which were designed and manufactured by glass specialist Waltersperger.
In 2020, the company relocated its operational headquarters from Saint-Cloud to Paris.
