...the search for a "second Reflection Man"...but with significantly higher longevity.
RM unfortunately lasts only about 4 hours on me...let's not even talk about the low sillage.
Adan kindly suggested that Pegasus immediately reminded him of RM...the first thing that came to his mind. Yes, I felt the same way...it does remind me of RM, just one or two degrees sweeter...but that unfortunately already bothered me with Godolphin and Herod...even though I like sweet fragrances...but just not this kind of sweetness.
For me, Pegasus is more of a mix between Sculpture and APOM...with a splash of Reflection Man. That doesn't sound particularly innovative now, does it? Unfortunately, it isn't. Because slowly I can no longer believe in coincidence...that these fragrances always resemble and remind one of other "great scents"...I just want to subtly remind of Godolphin, the twin of Tuscan Leather...it can't get more twin-like than that!!! Now another hit mix...well...the label tends to be unsympathetic...maybe they should have stuck to their original horse fragrances. Because pure copying would have been acceptable if the scent were captivating. And it isn't...and that is mainly due to the unpleasant cumin that gives the fragrance a slightly oriental direction...with the bitter almond providing an unpleasant bitter and musty background. I referred to this note in Tasmeem Man as the "old-sock note"...and this is exactly the same note here. In TM, it is also cumin. Anyone who doesn't associate the socks or, as described there, "the camel"...who doesn't perceive the "sweaty" aspect in APOM (thank God I don't!)...can approach Pegasus without prejudice.
The only nice thing about the test was realizing that Reflection Man cannot be easily copied after all...which probably speaks for Amouage in this case.
Longevity is sensational, as with almost all Marly fragrances...10 hours quite comfortably...and the sillage would warm the hearts of extroverts...because it is really strong!
I find Pegasus to be much more unique than Reflection Man. Reflection Man reminded me right away of Nikos Sculpture, Le Male, and Jacques Bogart's Silver Scent when I first smelled it. In contrast, Pegasus has a Le Male vibe but stands much more on its own.
