I've been hearing about Oajan and how it smells like Christmas spirit and spicy apple pie. Now that we're in the week and days leading up to Christmas, I had to try it for myself and see if it was true.
Definitely more masculine to me, which is the reason why I won't be getting it, but it's a very nice scent nonetheless. Warm, comforting and all-around lovely to wear for comfort, but also for feeling elegant and put-together. It really does have that Christmas vibe I heard about. Instead of smelling like apple pie though, it smells like spiced apple juice to my nose, even though there's no apples in the notes. Breaking it down, I have the impression cinnamon is why our nose picks up on an apple vibe. Honey is also present, giving a sirupy, almost liquorish aspect to the fragrance. The middle notes are all about warmth and an ambery, resinous accord. The drydown has some powdery vanilla and tonka beans. Davana is a strong note on my skin (always has been when I've encountered the ingredient in fragrances). It reinforces the liquor and adds a touch of exotic spiciness. Patchouli finally adds some woodiness at the end of its drydown.
Like I mentioned previously, it leans masculine to my nose due to the spicy aspect and the liquorish facet I'm getting which is why I won't be getting it. I do have to say though, it's a great cold weather choice for a man and I wouldn't mind smelling it on somebody else's skin. Try it out for yourself!
