At the Gates of Oblivion
As I tried to forget, I followed traces of glowing saffron. I set fire to my thoughts of animal skin and tar in pyroclastic mists. What have I rubbed with detergents? With shimmering embers on crackling logs. Burst memories flew in sparks towards the gray skies. They dance as phantoms in the ash rain, covering the damp roots that sought support with their tiny clammy fingers in the burned earth, and yet found only traces of silver hair, dark cigars, dried up, crumbled, marked with coal frost crystals of gasoline and amber. Then the world swayed like mildew in the morning.

Weston Adams from St. Louis, Missouri, is a musician, author, filmmaker, and philosopher, a multimedia artist who, among other things, attempts to reach the roots of olfactory imagination through scents. This requires the recipient to take their time, which in today’s everyday life already presupposes a meditative detachment from it.
With "Oblivion Access," the access to forgetfulness, he created a fragrance that approaches this theme with biting-smoky, gray-cool, sharp-leathery, burnt-woody, and damp-earthy notes, with only a few resinous silver streaks. Blind, I would have guessed it was a fragrance by Marcus McCoy or Donnie Bovi, as it carries the typical signature of House of Orpheus or Cinis Labs through this cool-smoky transparency.
Adams also employs the typically sharp saffron notes found in US indie leather-smoke fragrances, birch tar-leather aromas evoking detergents or abrasives, as well as a dominant ember accord that initially reminds one of subtly fruity prickly juniper, which appears increasingly sooty with the ash from the base. Gradually, a few cigar tobacco notes, fine bright resin threads, damp-rooted, almost frosted earth (Cypriol, Patchouli), smoldering wood (Guajak, synthetic Oud), and gasoline-like, glue-like Mysore sandalwood peel away from the clammy-smoky veil in the background. However, the overall impression remains that of a frost-laden mist saturated with smoke and leather over clammy hoarfrost floors.

A spicy-woody scent, leathery, with saffron notes, unusually crafted, dominated by guaiac and bitter patchouli. Light burnt note.
