I purchased the fragrance blindly at TKMaxx after reading Minigolf's review and after much deliberation. Inspired by the review, I thought of acquiring it as an example of a "green nature" scent for my collection and as a substitute for the expensive, nice (but ultimately not entirely convincing) "Bloom: Acqua di Fiori" by Gucci. Now "Perle Verte" cannot meet my expectations. This is not an ordinary kind of green fragrance. "Perle Verte" is strangely different; I perceive this pearl as a little wonder on the thin line between very chic and truly awful. "Perle Verte" does not smell like a natural scent of a forest or a meadow in my opinion, nor does it aim to be: it is very artificial, contrived. Very complex. And it has a certain Chanel vibe (I think of No. 19 and No. 19 Poudre), especially in the base, in the dry down. One piece of information for now: the scent lasts all day long on the skin, has a subtle sillage, and an interesting progression. It starts off charmingly sour, slightly bitter, unsweet, artificial-green, even a bit animalistic, very peculiar - I have not smelled anything similar before. This rather long beginning is not the best part of the progression, in my opinion. A light floral note joins later on, making the fragrance a bit softer and more pleasant to wear. This is where my associations with Chanel fragrances begin, which are further reinforced in the dry down - the base of the "Perle" is beautifully old-fashioned in the best sense of the word: soft, warm, round, subtly sweet, powdery-green with a hint of bitterness (perhaps from the cloves). And the base lasts for several hours, then finally dissolves into a sweet, makeup-like skin scent. Feminine, very charming, very varied, different from the others. I like it now. Worth a test.
