One of the Best Classic Men's Fragrances

For some time, a 100ml bottle of the cologne was on sale at our TK for an outrageously low price. I often stood in front of it, wanting to take the plunge and make a blind purchase. I just love lemon, but with my citrus references like Colonia Essenza, Eau de Rochas (in the vintage version), Versace's and YSL L'Homme, I actually have enough lemony-fresh fragrances, and I could hardly imagine that this one could offer something new. The appealing fact was, of course, acquiring a fragrance that is probably very hard to find in Germany or not distributed at all. But a true perfume lover listens to the voices in their head and goes for it. Thought, done!

And it was worth it. What a wonderful fresh lemony slightly soapy-waxy scent. I keep realizing that Penhaligon's just knows how to do it.

The fragrance starts off with a bitter-fresh note featuring a truly naturally smelling lemon, similar to that of Blenheim Bouquet (see my comment there). Those who love lemon, like I do, will adore this. Freshly squeezed lemon. Simply brilliant.

At the same time, the fragrance has a slightly soapy scent, which almost exactly reminds me of G-Man or Aigner's No. 2. Not in the same intensity as there, but very noticeable. Combined with the freshness of the lemon, I really like this aspect. Since I enjoy both of these scents, I also appreciate this aspect of Douros.

Once the lemon and the soapy notes have faded, the middle and base of the fragrance remind me a lot of the house's own Sartorial. More of the metallic part and a bit less of the waxy honey. I also like this very much.

The longevity is quite good for a cologne. However, the scent cloud is rather close to the skin. My tip for enjoying this fragrance all day long is to get a refillable TZ and spray again around lunchtime.

Provocative headline, then? Absolutely. Overall, a very linear citrus-fresh metallic-waxy fragrance of outstanding quality and not to be underestimated exclusivity. Classic in the truest sense yet still very modern. Wearable for me in any season and always appropriate. If you like citrus fragrances and have the opportunity to acquire this scent, you should do it. I can only recommend it....

Best regards

So, an interesting mix of Blenheim and G-Man? Bring it on! If I see a pack of that at Maxx, I know what to do... Wishlist! Trophy!
