Recently, I received a 15 ml bottle of "Extract of Limes" as a souvenir from a trip to London. Joy! And the joy continued even after testing it. I could hardly pull my nose away from my pulse point. And promptly, the mood-lifting effect attributed to citrus scents kicked in! I never thought that such a "simple" fragrance with so few ingredients could excite me so much!
No surprises, but also nothing that could distract from the pure beauty of lime in combination with lemon. Petitgrain and neroli perfectly round off the scent without stealing the show from the citrus fruits.
What is remarkable here is that this is the first citrus fragrance where I actually perceive the sourness, but without aggression, rather beautifully, refreshingly, and aromatically.
"Extract of Limes" is a somewhat different citrus fragrance, pure, but by no means boring, almost extreme in its restraint, as it has no frills or unnecessary embellishments. It is also not an average cologne, neither in character nor in longevity, as it is surprisingly long-lasting despite lacking a base note.
