Refreshing Lime-centric Citrus Cologne
A fine example of truth in advertising, Penhaligon EXTRACT OF LIMES features, you guessed it: extract of limes! This bright citrus composition is very fresh and natural and perfect for the summertime. There is a touch of neroli here, but not much, and I find that the lime--both juice and rind--is much stronger than the lemon.

The longevity is typical for this sort of composition, which is suitable for anyone who likes citrus scents. I recommend this high-quality composition for hot weather as a cologne or splash.

Phileas Fogg or The Duchess of Cornwall
There were a few heroes in my very young years. Most of them - like Grisu, the little dragon who wanted to be a firefighter - quickly faded away as I grew older. But then came an English gentleman with the wonderful name Phileas Fogg, who wagered half his fortune in his London club that he could travel around the world in 80 days. Together with his servant Passepartout, he set off on the journey (which today could be done effortlessly in significantly less than 80 hours) and won the bet after an adventurous ride in literally the last second.

What I particularly admired about Phileas Fogg back then was that unflustered gallantry that is commonly attributed to English gentlemen. I have since seen several English gentlemen who were not exclusively unflustered and gallant (e.g., in the context of beer and football matches), but Phileas Fogg - he was always in control, impeccably dressed, and hardly ever had even a speck of dust on his impeccable tailored suits. The Irish actor Pierce Brosnan played him wonderfully - in the late 80s, when he was still known as Remington Steele and not as James Bond 007.

A gentleman like Phileas Fogg, I imagine, does not smell perfumed, never. He has a scent - only when one comes close - at most of some fresh citrus with just a hint of soapiness. And this fine, very British touch of citrus freshness is what the venerable house of Penhaligon's infused into its delicate Extract of Limes. After long flights (or car rides), one sometimes feels as if they haven't washed for days. A spritz of a pleasant fragrance like this (and perhaps a toothbrush) is often enough - and everything is just as it should be again.

Conclusion: about Camilla Mountbatten-Windsor, the Duchess of Cornwall - at a time when she was still known as Parker-Bowles and rather uncharmingly referred to as 'the Rottweiler' (I liked her even back then) - it was once said that she would sometimes wipe herself down with a damp towel behind the open door of the Land Rover after a sweaty hunt instead of taking a time-consuming bath, and then immediately slip into her evening gown. Provided she took a drop of Extract of Limes from the pocket of her worn Barbour jacket beforehand, one might almost say - so what?

Penhaligon's - An Obituary for Headless, Vegetarian Scents, Fourth Strike
Lemons and limes are different types of citrus fruits, but they have similar properties and can therefore be used interchangeably, for example in the kitchen. However, compared to lemon, lime has a slightly milder acidity along with characteristic aromatic-spicy notes that I personally appreciate very much. I prefer to drink a Whiskey Sour with a mix of lemon and lime juice, sometimes even just with the latter.
Penhaligon’s must have taken the opening sentence literally, as Extract of Limes is essentially just a lime twist on the classic Eau de Cologne, which olfactorily embodies the mentioned aromas. Neroli and Petitgrain seem to support the extremely naturalistic representation of lime. This fragrance concept is very simply constructed, but it works brilliantly.
All in all, a somewhat different, but at least just as refreshing Cologne with typical longevity, which I greatly appreciate in the summer.

And, as a side tip: In these crazy times, mood enhancers like this fine, invigorating water can work wonders - good vibes in a bottle! And the short longevity leads to frequent mood boosts - you just have to reach for the bottle often and a lot :D Another pleasant side effect is that due to the alcohol solution, Extract of Limes also has a disinfecting effect. Just like any other perfume, by the way. So I wish you a few particularly fragrant weeks, stay healthy!

Simple, but beautiful
Recently, I received a 15 ml bottle of "Extract of Limes" as a souvenir from a trip to London. Joy! And the joy continued even after testing it. I could hardly pull my nose away from my pulse point. And promptly, the mood-lifting effect attributed to citrus scents kicked in! I never thought that such a "simple" fragrance with so few ingredients could excite me so much!

No surprises, but also nothing that could distract from the pure beauty of lime in combination with lemon. Petitgrain and neroli perfectly round off the scent without stealing the show from the citrus fruits.

What is remarkable here is that this is the first citrus fragrance where I actually perceive the sourness, but without aggression, rather beautifully, refreshingly, and aromatically.

"Extract of Limes" is a somewhat different citrus fragrance, pure, but by no means boring, almost extreme in its restraint, as it has no frills or unnecessary embellishments. It is also not an average cologne, neither in character nor in longevity, as it is surprisingly long-lasting despite lacking a base note.

I love gifts like this!

An ideal companion for hot days!
I have now purchased this wonderful perfume from Penhaligon's, and it feels especially refreshing to me at the beginning, somewhat relaxing, yet invigorating.
Extract of Limes is so intense that even the unopened cap smells of this wonderful perfume!
Right after applying, this wonderful scent wafts into my nose.
It is a blend of precious lime oil, fresh lemon with peel, and petitgrain, which is moderately to strongly present here.
This mixture of notes is not sweet, but rather has a dry scent!
One might think it also includes the peel of these fruits, as this water becomes somewhat dry in the further scent development!
Extract of Limes has no other base note, except for the very subtle, sweetly fragrant neroli that comes in the heart base note.
I can detect the scent of neroli here as rather light to moderate.
In this beautiful water, the chypre notes clearly play the main role!
For perfume lovers who enjoy refreshing, classic citrus perfumes, Extract of Limes is a true treasure worth trying!

I highly recommend this beautiful classic scent; it has nothing artificial about it and is a truly good companion for summer, even on hot days!

The scent is always worth a test!

I'm really impressed with the scent, a great fresh summer fragrance with that special touch of lime. Fits perfectly, a recommendation.

Sharp, antibacterial lemon essence. As unfunny British as Margaret Thatcher. Reminds me of the old Wienerwald fresh wipes.
