On the Way in the Apricot Orchard
Two weeks ago, while on vacation, I made a detour to Salzburg and, of course, had to visit the numerous perfumeries in the city. Among other places, I entered a shop near the Mönchsberg, where the impressive fortress is located.
Upon entering the shop, I was quite amazed. BOHOBOCO, Roja, Widian, and several other houses, including Penhaligon's, were represented. The fragrances from the latter house particularly stood out due to the extensive range and beautiful presentation on a round glass table in the center of the shop, which is why I focused on them. I was able to test not only the new The Dandy but also the very exclusive Potions & Remedies.
While The Dandy and a large part of the P. & R. didn't convince me much, the Vra Vra Vroom surprised me greatly.
Right upon spraying: this beautiful, zesty apricot. Am I still in Salzburg, or have I just been teleported to an apricot orchard in the Wachau? Second sniff, third sniff - wow, what a lovely scent. I had it sprayed on my skin and took a little stroll, with my wrist barely leaving my nose. Alongside the zest and floral notes of the apricot, there’s a fine tea note and a velvety leather that makes the fragrance very soft and gentle in the drydown. A sense of well-being spreads through my body. During lunch in the sun, I kept catching these delicate, fruity, and clean scent trails in my nose, which made my purchasing decision easier. So back to the perfumery - and once again, 200€ less in my wallet.
Whether the Vra Vra Vroom is worth the price is something everyone must decide for themselves. It is definitely not cheap. Had I smelled it in a different context, I would have (with a heavy heart) probably left it behind. But now I have a fragrance that not only smells great but also constantly reminds me of a sunny day in Salzburg's old town. ;)
