Beautiful fruits surrounded by honeyed osmanthus and suede
I've been attracted to this perfume ever since I spotted apricot in its top notes. Tried it at a Rennaï but I wanted a sample to try it at home without the noise coming from other fragrances. I got myself a sample at Etiket and here I am!
Very beautiful opening of fruity, sweet and nectar-like apricot, followed by the freshness of citrus fruits and the aromatic, gentle note of clary sage. It's uplifting, but also gentle and well-met. Osmanthus is the star of the middle note. Sweet, honey-like: it adds depth to the fragrance. Very subtle carnal and sweet rose with a fresh magnolia. At this point, the scent titters between freshness and creaminess which is intriguing, but nice nonetheless. The bottom becomes fresher and the leather starts showing. Leather is more suede-like, smooth with a good transition. It enhances the almost peachy, fuzziness of the apricot and osmanthus that have slowly been slipping away. Drydown is a little bit synthetic and fresher than the rest of the fragrance.
I tried it twice (excluding when I tried it at a store) and pondered on going for a full bottle. Ultimately, I decided to drop it for a few reasons. I'm not a fan of leather and unfortunately it comes out on my skin (my skin chemistry does that). Apricot and osmanthus don't last as long as I wish they did. Performance is subpar for the price and yes, I know Penhaligon's are not on the strong side of fragrances, but still. Apart from all of that, it's a very beautiful fragrance and if I had discovered it earlier in my journey, I might have gone for a full bottle.
