Prim&Proper
A new release (from 2010) of a classic scent launched for the first time in 1977. It's a greenish, herbal concoction with hardly any flowers and a wry dryness, not a floral chypre in my books. This fragrance does not talk to me at all. I can't say that it is unpleasant, but it bears no element of surprise, no fascinating chord. It comes across like a well-established, decent toilet water for people who want to obey the code of conduct. Absolutely devoid of any erotic hues, this seems to be respectability in a bottle. It's prim and proper - and could easily pass as a scent created for Victorians, when it was dedicated to Elizabeth II. Not my cuppa!

Penhaligon's - An obituary of headless vegetarian scents, seventh prank
I had found a treasure map in our kitchen, in elaborate letters marked "shopping list". There was talk of boxes of the most precious paper of inestimable value, and fragrant treasures to protect against evil spirits. Of course, I hoisted the sails of our four-wheeler as quickly as possible and, with the help of this treasure map, set off in search of the promised treasures. The journey was long and arduous and I experienced many adventures along the way. Among other things, a young sailor tried to board me in the dangerous circles of an industrial area. As an old seadog I knew how to prevent this in time and reached the desired destination a little later. In the distance, in the densely overgrown mountains behind the rugged cliffs, I could already make out the blue E on a yellow background mentioned on the treasure map, under which the treasure should be buried. After a day's march through the jungle I had finally reached the aforementioned place and had to realize with horror that I was not the first. Two privateers had arrived before me and were already dueling over the precious treasure. But they could not have been the first to arrive either, for the hole had already been dug and many chests were empty - only a few of the valuable rolls were still there, which now gave the two of them cause for a duel, and all the fragrant protective and cleansing treasures were already gone. A fight would have had little chance of success, since they seemed determined to do everything. I had to return home empty-handed and was a little afraid of the reaction of my queen. But I knew of something in my treasure chamber that would be able to soothe her - it was not quite the desired soap, but it was very similar in its smell and of even greater value: a small specimen of Jubilee Bouquet.
Jubilee Bouquet - I had the opportunity to test the vintage version in the splash bottle with yellow ribbon, for which the lovely Serafina deserves my deepest thanks - is essentially a soap scent. At first spicy carnation soap, soothed by light hespridian tones. Then powdery flower soap, warm and of royal elegance. Then moss soap, also warm and soft and only a little scratchy. This treasure of fragrances can tell stories of old kings and queens, old stories that are true or maybe not, stories that are beautiful and sometimes a little sad, stories from a distant land far across the sea.
I'd like to find such a treasure! I can see myself drawing a treasure map, one can still hope. I just don't know where it will lead And I won't be late for that treasure, that's for sure.
