Seawater extinguishes a steppe fire...
....that may be an unusual association for a fragrance. And yet, there is a thick spark of truth in it. At least, that's what my nose thinks.
An active and unusual scent sometimes needs such a description.
Since I cannot compare Sous les Magnolias to anything I have smelled before, it is indeed a very independent perfume.
Especially the "top note" aims to bring a slight confusion to the senses. After all, it flows in a constant up and down throughout the entire scent journey. "Slightly salty, fresh seawater" it may be.
A coast by the Atlantic, the wind quite cool, the weather changeable, but definitely pleasant.
In the distance, a spring-like sea of blossoms, fruit trees dipped in bright pink.
But far away, still within "view," heat seems to rise. The typical shimmer of the air, very close to the horizon. And a kind of reddish glow. Very dry, desert-like, smoky-aromatic air slowly mixes with the moist coolness near the "coast."
It almost seems as if there is a fire burning in the somewhat steppe-like interior. Scents of "smoked earth," bitter "root fragrances" of sweet grasses and dry tree bark waft over. A very dynamic mixture of fascinating olfactory impressions. Then, after a long time, it becomes "calmer." Where "the steppe burned," misty steam rises, as if everything had been extinguished with seawater. With a water pump, whose thick hose end directly ends in the cool waves.
The scent continues to glow in soft colors. Smells of "water," "lush flowers," and moist-aromatic "wood and herb smoke." In between, a forest untouched by either water or fire. Cedars and MOSS!
