Expensive, More Expensive, Chrome Hearts!
What comes to mind when you hear Chrome Hearts? Most of you probably think of their high-quality but also expensive jewelry, as well as exquisite leather jackets and vests. However, Chrome Hearts today is not just a clothing brand but a lifestyle! From truffle knives to stethoscopes, to gas masks and Drake’s custom 1/1 Rolls Royce, you can find everything - and among other things, they also offer two perfumes! Here is my opinion:
When I smell this fragrance, I see a man in a leather jacket, well-groomed and extremely self-confident. In one of the most exclusive New York jazz bars with a skyline overlooking Central Park, he sits in a smooth, burgundy-colored armchair and leisurely sips his cognac. In the foreground is a wood-burning fireplace. The gentle crackling of the fire and the mild aromas of the cognac carry him to a relaxed and peaceful mood. This is the setting that this fragrance embodies for me.
It is unique, something you don’t smell every day. Despite no similarities in terms of fragrance notes, it feels to me like the noble version of "By the Fireplace | Maison Margiela." Right from the opening, it is very smoky-spicy to me, but in the dry down, it gains a certain sweetness from the amber & coconut. Although it is marketed as unisex, it definitely leans masculine for me due to the incense. H&S are also good, moderate sillage and typically 8+ hours of performance. The design of the bottle also appeals to me and retains the typical gothic look of Chrome Hearts. Unfortunately, the cap of the bottle is made of plastic, which annoys me quite a bit, especially for this price...
Conclusion: All in all, I think you should definitely smell it at least once; it is truly beautiful and surprisingly convincing in its performance, but unfortunately also extremely expensive... A hefty 675 euros for this piece! For newcomers to the perfume world, I cannot recommend it, not only because of the price but also because, in my opinion, it takes an experienced nose to understand the beauty and complexity of this fragrance. Only buy the perfume if you are a collector or a Chrome Hearts lover. Those looking for an alternative should be well served with the aforementioned "By the Fireplace | Maison Margiela."
