That I have always had a weakness for articles of any kind that are not so easy to obtain has been one of my traits. Even as a child, I had a fondness for things, mainly toys, that you couldn't buy on every corner. In 1989, I was completely enamored with My Little Pony, and when I discovered ponies on our vacation in Italy that you couldn't buy back home, I naturally wanted one. "Profumi di Gelato," was the name of the series offered by the Italian toy store. As always, Polly chose a pony with a mane and tail in violet, and so "Peppermint" ended up with me.
And Peppermint actually smelled. Not necessarily of the namesake peppermint, but definitely of ice cream and treats. Peppermint smelled like Dolce Acqua, which I found out in 2011, 22 years later. Because in 2011, Profumum Roma launched this gourmand. Since I already owned Confetto at that time, this new fragrance naturally piqued my curiosity. And when the sample from Luckyscent finally arrived, I was, of course, over the moon. This cozy, warm sweetness of an Italian gelateria enveloped me. And I was mentally transported to Italy. But rather to "my" beloved toy store, back then in Cesenatico. And to Peppermint.
Almond and tonka bean shape this very sweet scent from Profumum Roma, which eventually became a bit too much for me after a few years, which is why I sold it again. Edible? Absolutely! It doesn't get much more edible than this. And it's sweet and playful with the unmistakable hint of a toy store. This doll-like note, which characterizes fragrances like Léa or Slime Satisfaction, is also present here. However, with a sillage that makes escape nearly impossible. Room-filling, strong, stronger, Profumum Roma. One spray was usually already too much, and after a few hours, I felt as if I had actually overdone it with the sweets.
Of course, it is fine, like all fragrances from this brand. But this one is only recommended for true sweet tooth enthusiasts. Unfortunately, I eventually had some issues with the milky vanilla-tonka combination and associated it with Hansaplast. That was the point at which we ultimately parted ways.
It's funny that to this day, I think of Peppermint whenever I see the bottle. If these fragrances had existed when I was 12, I believe I would have wished for my first perfume back then.
It's nice to follow your memories of peppermint, and as much as I love Italy and of course the ice cream there, I would run away from that scent, very quickly, very far away... ;-)
Ah, I used to love these ponies (even without the scent) so much, and I can totally relate. I even got to pick one out on vacation once, and I was so happy. 😍 Thanks for the reminder!
The scent sounds fun, but I’m sure it’s a bit too sweet for me. ;)
Wonderful and sweet scent review - for such delicious fragrances, I always wish there were 30ml bottles available; that would be a good amount for sweet cravings from time to time - who needs 100ml bottles of such sweet and high-performance dessert scents... Sweet Tooth Trophy for you!
I experienced that light plastic note too after reading about it from you. Nowadays, I find Dulcis in Fundo more appealing. If I ever feel like wearing something sweet during really wintery temperatures (serious sub-zero), I wear this and then have vanilla in my nose for three days straight ;D.
A lovely description with a personal touch. I always appreciate that about you.
The scent was way too sweet and too food-like for me, and the old PR problem: endless longevity, which I increasingly find unpleasant.
Ah - another lovely memory from you. Awesome, awesome - that's what you do best. Too sweet, too strong, so not really for me. And I'd prefer to just 'dab' it on😉
But milky-vanilla-tonka and Hansaplast do catch my attention. Might just be a potential 'comfort patch' candidate for me. But only dabbed on.
I wouldn't call such a trait a weakness, maybe more of an extravagance and strong individuality. And I like that, let others talk! The scent isn't really for me, and it doesn't have to be!
Childhood memories, the good ones are the best. I didn't have a little pony, but I had plenty of Playmobil and Lego. They didn't smell as good as peppermint, though. Enjoyed reading this. Best regards!
Peppermint :D:D !!! That's quite charming :):) ! I had to get Dolce Acqua too, and like you, my initial excitement has faded... I still have it, but maybe I'll pass it on... great review!
I can also remember these scented action figures; Stinkor (pepper, light animalic) and Moss Man (pine) were popular and inspired many perfumers in their respective genres. Thanks for the trip to the Adriatic!
Ah, this one should be just right, nicely scented and then out for a winter walk in minus 14 degrees. I really love the scent of tonka bean. Whether in perfumes or in a panna cotta... Sounds wonderful.
Floyd is such a goofball :P I had a pony like that too. Mine was pretty conventional, you could find it anywhere, and at night it had to leave the room because I couldn't sleep with that smell.
It's always nice to visit you in your world.
I should definitely keep this in mind :))

The brand has very strong scents, but this line isn't for me.
Such beautiful memories! 🦄
Very interesting!
Sounds wonderful.
