Back to childhood

Sweet Almonds with an Edge
Sweet marzipan, creamy almonds and powdered sugar. Airy but decadent with the right amount of sweetness. I visited this gorgeous store in Bologna called Virginia 1921 and it was such a wonderful experience--shout out to Virginia for sharing her favourites with me and for helping me find my next favourite scent!

I was on a hunt for an almond scent that's more floral and sweet, something different from Chemin D'Amande (which I absolutely adore!). I tried on different scents during my visit and I was so sure that Confetto would be the winner--I even sprayed on skin and walked around the city for a while to see how it would settle. When I went back to make the jump, I had a gut feeling to try Dolce Acqua on my skin, and I immediately knew I had to have it.

Dolce Acqua - fizzy coconut and jammy fruits in the opening, with a creamy drydown of dusty, sugared almonds with a hint of rose water. My husband detected a tart cherry note in the opening. Longevity is insane, I could still it on my wrists after 12 hours.
Confetto - dry, bitter almonds followed by a creamy jasmine and nutty vanilla base. My husband said it smelled like plasticine/Play-Doh though.

Both beautiful almond scents though, but I am glad I went with Dolce Acqua in the end. If you find yourself in Bologna, Virginia 1921 is a must-visit local profumeria!

Peppermint
That I have always had a weakness for articles of any kind that are not so easy to obtain has been one of my traits. Even as a child, I had a fondness for things, mainly toys, that you couldn't buy on every corner. In 1989, I was completely enamored with My Little Pony, and when I discovered ponies on our vacation in Italy that you couldn't buy back home, I naturally wanted one. "Profumi di Gelato," was the name of the series offered by the Italian toy store. As always, Polly chose a pony with a mane and tail in violet, and so "Peppermint" ended up with me.

And Peppermint actually smelled. Not necessarily of the namesake peppermint, but definitely of ice cream and treats. Peppermint smelled like Dolce Acqua, which I found out in 2011, 22 years later. Because in 2011, Profumum Roma launched this gourmand. Since I already owned Confetto at that time, this new fragrance naturally piqued my curiosity. And when the sample from Luckyscent finally arrived, I was, of course, over the moon. This cozy, warm sweetness of an Italian gelateria enveloped me. And I was mentally transported to Italy. But rather to "my" beloved toy store, back then in Cesenatico. And to Peppermint.

Almond and tonka bean shape this very sweet scent from Profumum Roma, which eventually became a bit too much for me after a few years, which is why I sold it again. Edible? Absolutely! It doesn't get much more edible than this. And it's sweet and playful with the unmistakable hint of a toy store. This doll-like note, which characterizes fragrances like Léa or Slime Satisfaction, is also present here. However, with a sillage that makes escape nearly impossible. Room-filling, strong, stronger, Profumum Roma. One spray was usually already too much, and after a few hours, I felt as if I had actually overdone it with the sweets.

Of course, it is fine, like all fragrances from this brand. But this one is only recommended for true sweet tooth enthusiasts. Unfortunately, I eventually had some issues with the milky vanilla-tonka combination and associated it with Hansaplast. That was the point at which we ultimately parted ways.

It's funny that to this day, I think of Peppermint whenever I see the bottle. If these fragrances had existed when I was 12, I believe I would have wished for my first perfume back then.

Well, what can I say about that?
That's what I thought immediately after spraying it... wrist... wave, wave, wave...
booooaaaaaaaaaa .. Total anesthesia for everyone around me!! :D:D
The only one I know that surpasses this sillage is Confetto!!
Dulcis in fundo is much softer and invites you to snack on Cantucci.
Battito d` Ali reminds me too much of Butterfly by Hanae Mori
mixed with Cashmere and it weakens too much for me.
The reformulated Acqua e Zucchero is too much for me, can I say that?
Too: “madamig in the course and strawberry-Cornetto-like.
That's a bit of a strange coexistence of associations for me :D:D
Vanitas is an insane fragrance, is too sweet for me again, as if someone
poured 50 kilos of the finest Viennese crystal sugar into a tub..
I can't stop sniffing my friend when he wears Vanitas.
For me, it doesn't work at all, risk of fainting!
The sweet gourmand Romas would be the one, I think, just from the feeling.
But this Dolce, the wonderful vanilla flower, coconut, and the almond buttery.
I’m all about it! The scent is heavy, no question... it has nothing light, it's beautifully hefty.
In the course, well :D:D the scent is very straightforward, not much really happens... vanilla
is, in my opinion, the least used ingredient, good too :-))
As strange as it sounds, the coconut and heliotrope remind me
quite a bit of a sunscreen that wafted around the beaches in the 80s.
Batiada de Coco comes to mind..... yummy rum pot :D:D
There is an enormous similarity for me with Serge Lutens Louve.
The juxtaposition of these extreme notes brings a peculiar
artificiality and almost sharpness with it,
as if you were sniffing the aroma additives in the pastry shop,
the scent fascinates me completely.
It lasts very well on me, not as long as Confetto or Vanitas,
(although it comes across to me very much like both!!)
but about as long as Dulcis in Fundo.
Well, skin chemistry!! Development and longevity are simply individual, just like the sense of smell.
I will have to get Dolce, no way around it!
…… and it has a lovely shoe polish note added to it;-)…..
…… and it becomes soft and gentle and creamy …….. ah….. I just like it and it makes me happy :D:D:D:D

Sweet Comfort on Cold Days
I love my Dolce Acqua, I can't say how much!
A single spritz below the neck, now, for the first time, from the brand new bottle I bought for winter - a revelation. Of course, the fragrance has its price. But I gladly paid it. This softness, gentle sweetness, delicious refinement, I never want to miss again... If I could choose three fragrances and nothing else could be added - I would honor Dolce Acqua.
Just two months ago, I didn't even know this scent existed.
In autumn, I was in a very upscale niche perfumery, the only one of its kind in our city, looking for a guest gift for a relative's wife. Unknowingly, I sniffed at the first bottle that caught my eye visually: It was Heartless Helen by Penhaligon's. I wished for it for my birthday but had to pick it up myself there - and stumbled upon Dolce Acqua in the process. I treated myself to this fragrance dream for my birthday and stored it until now in the dark perfume compartment of my beautiful old wardrobe. Today was the day to free it from its dungeon. I am so happy with Dolce Acqua!
Cold, damp, darkness, and a fine hint of almond-marzipan above it all - what more could winter do to me...
Give it a chance! The scent strip retained its notes for a full three weeks, and I noticed many developments. In the end, a gentle vanilla remained, simply breathtakingly beautiful. A masterpiece in my eyes.

A rather linear, warm and creamy/sweet spicy-floral Gourmand, with an inviting, earthy spicy-sweet opening. Unusual coconut-almond combo!

Creamy and sweet, but reminds me a bit of ‘80s white florals too. Almond starts off smelling like almond extract, but turns powdery.

cold weather sweet almond + tonka. Great longevity typical of this brand but not unique, not worth its price tag. Unisex

A little marzipan chocolate
wanted to polish her shoes.
Mrs. Tonka rushes over:
"You need to use shoe cream."

Almond, heliotrope & vanilla always create a sense of well-being. But it's so sweet that it gives you a toothache, like chewing on aluminum foil.

And another one from the pastry chef series. Almond-vanilla-sugar overkill, but somehow delicious. Here too, I want something spicy right away.

Heliotrope + almond + a splash of coconut milk + lots of sugar = Dolce Acqua. Sillage monster and marzipan bomb with great longevity. I love it!

Great marzipan bomb for those who like it. Sweet, lush, with a powerful sillage! I love this scent, not everyone's darling! But it's mine!

No coconut but so much almond-marzipan that I flinched in shock. It sticks in the nose! Even for me, that's too much, unfortunately.

Like Dr. Oetker's bitter almond baking aroma, very marzipan-heavy. It becomes creamy, vanilla, and soft over time. Coconut milk rounds off this lovely gourmand.
