Recently, in the Pyrenees
Estivalia reminds me of a drive into the blue from La Escala, Spain, to Andorra.
It starts citrus-fresh, just like we were when we got into the battered rental car without a GPS and without a map, and slightly floral. We felt a bit queasy.
Then we drove through fields of rapeseed and lavender, and realized that our liter bottle of Fanta, which was supposed to last for the round trip, was first lukewarm, and second almost empty, and it was getting hotter and hotter.....Fortunately, the lavender breeze that wafted in through the car windows refreshed us a little. Estivalia also becomes fresher and more lavender-like over time.
After we passed Puigcerda, at the foot of the Pyrenees, the outside temperature had reached an estimated 45 degrees and the newly purchased 1-liter bottles of cola were already history.
My girlfriend and driver of the car said nonchalantly: "The steering wheel already has a crust of salt." And Estivalia also has something of the salty breeze that sweeps over the mountains near the sea.
Only the base of Estivalia is more beautiful than the conclusion of our drive; fresh-woody, it cushions the invigorating, summery lavender scent.
Neither of us was fresh anymore after 6 hours of driving when we reached Andorra.
And I will tell you about the return trip another time, under the title "Dead Cow at 3 AM."
