A Swimming Pool Surprise
That was truly not my plan. (Many comments start like this, right?) But this fragrance is coming across way too poorly in the review so far.
So poorly that after opening my sample mail, I found myself confusedly asking, oops, why did I actually order this for testing?
The lesson: Don’t take the review points too seriously.
I find Mandarin Moon surprisingly wonderful.
The sillage is intense for me at first, but quickly calms down. Admittedly, at the very beginning there’s even a hint of room spray, uuh. At first, it’s also a bit too sweet, but that settles down as well. With a wave of green. And it is indeed mandarin-y, that’s for sure. (For a moment, there was a hint of “refreshing sticks” - do you remember those? Grandma always had them in the fridge. The coolness took away a bit of the sweetness.) The grapefruit is subtle for me, just adds a spice. Vetiver brings seriousness; however, the lightness remains intact. It wafts... Soft and fresh at the same time. Sweetwater. Something - what is that? - smells super friendly like a swimming pool. (Sometimes it almost seems to me like there’s a tiny trace of chlorine coming through. But that’s probably just a memory trace?) So friendly that I spontaneously bought it! Even though I’m not into mandarins or swimming pools. How about that.
For me, Mandarin Moon is definitely a daytime scent, specifically for sunny days. (I also tried Mandarin Moon in the evening once. That was not a good idea; it just doesn’t work for me at that time.)
Lasting about 6 hours... I thought. At first. But then it came back after a little break. For just as long again! This time with a slightly “grungier” note, which I also find appealing. The sky is now darker, a shade less defined, grayer, perhaps even a bit sepia... pleasant after such a day filled with swimming pool memories. It feels like shaking off the towel from dry grass, packing the bag, finally finding shade, and having a moment alone. Is this the moon from the mandarin? Beautiful.
The fact that we are dealing with a natural fragrance adds extra comfort points.
