Eau Sublime Rancé 1795

Spring really played tricks on us last week. It winked and flirted, and we all might have fallen for its charm if.... those thick, fat snowflakes hadn't come in at the beginning of the week.
Now I wonder, which fragrance do I wear in such an unstable season? I already feel like spring, yet I hesitate to apply a delicate, fresh floral scent and then bundle up thick and warm.
That just doesn't fit! Likewise, I am over the warm caressers that simply don't want winter to end.

In my search for the right crossover, I also stumbled upon "Eau Sublime." This little gem had to be fished out from the back corner of the cupboard, and I admit I couldn't remember at all how it smelled!

Well, a few hours after applying it, I am quite tempted to talk about this beautiful scent!

Right from the start, I am greeted by a royal-English and very floral note that might please the old nobility, but doesn't exactly exude modernity. I don't mean this in a derogatory way; it rather suggests the kind of floral we are dealing with here. Serious, absolutely not sweet, and a bit virginal, I would call it, but not necessarily outdated.
The top note and the bottle fit together in perfect harmony. I immediately think of Edwardian Bouquet by Floris and want to close the topic when a very interesting spiciness sets in. Ginger?? Not in the pyramid! It must be the myrtle that tickles my nose pleasantly.
Now the fine notes of early bloomers and spring guardians open up. Lilac and lily of the valley join the scent concert, and surprisingly, the fragrance takes on a pleasant powderiness, even though I find neither violet root nor iris in the pyramid. The whole composition evolves into a spicy-floral-powdery experience that fits nowhere better than in a season that can't quite decide between yay or nay. The musk-laden base acts like a sunbeam piercing through the gray sky, warming the face so wonderfully for a moment....

Conclusion:
Eau Sublime presents itself as an elegant and high-quality fragrance with a pleasant presence and unobtrusive aura.
Actually a scent for every day, one that always works, ....but it shows its best side on days like this, when the weather doesn't know what it wants and we don't either.

A beautiful floral-powdery traditional scent with fine spiciness and of exceptionally good quality for middle-aged women. I do not recommend it for young ladies, as it is by no means playful and absolutely "not sweet," and could therefore come across as too serious.
