Sweet and Fluffy!

In the "Eau" series, the antique bottle always corresponds well with the content. It is conservative, discreet, and usually airy-transparent, more "scent" than "smell." They are all good, and yet the brand Rancé trips itself up. None of it is a knockout, nothing demands great attention. Quietly and modestly, these little treasures wait to be discovered by us. Who even buys this?

Without a doubt, Eau Superbe is a perfume of high quality: it is a light oriental, a bright patchouli scent, in this case fluffy and transparent. For me personally, this is a difficult type of perfume. The line between heaven and hell is very thin, but please, that is my very personal opinion.

Eau Superbe falls down, and it falls towards hell. What a shame, the quality is right, the scent is as light and airy as a soufflé, but unfortunately - I don't like it. The underlying sweetness bothers me a bit; it's just too much for me. It comes across as mealy or even doughy, like a raisin cake. The difference to another perfume in this scent direction is not that great - I particularly mean Micallef's No. 203 from the Art Collection. One might rightly accuse me of arbitrariness, as I couldn't precisely name why one perfume bothers me while I like the other. Perhaps it is Micallef's somewhat more decisive, mature appearance, the spectacular opulence, the water displacement that Eau Superbe lacks.

Let's leave it at that - ultimately, I can't explain it. This comment is expressly not a call to avoid Eau Superbe. The quality is right, and fans of cozy orientals might find a particularly light alternative here.

I have the Eau Sublime, which is very nice and soft and thankfully not sweet. The others from the line weren't really my thing. Thanks, great comment!

The comment does sound very inviting. I’ll go test it out with Pazuzu.
Maybe tonight in Cologne?

The bottle reminds me of a sweet sugar bowl, like for a coffee gathering or something. I could like it. I thank you for this comment with a trophy.
