Wonderfully Reimagining the Classic Eau de Cologne...
Kolonya opens with just a tinge of citric orange bergamot coupling with moderately sweet plum infused rosewood before quickly moving to its heart. As the composition enters its early heart the bergamot vacates, leaving the plum infused rosewood to meld with slightly sweet, natural pipe tobacco and subtle jasmine and lavender florals with clove spice in support. During the late dry-down the tobacco and florals gradually diminish as smooth, slightly sweet amber takes the fore, bolstered by supporting natural cedar and sandalwood unveiled from the base through the finish. Projection is below average but longevity is excellent at around 12 hours on skin.

With a name like Kolonya, I really expected a different perfume profile than encountered, but in this case the change was a very pleasant surprise. The perfume turns out to be a fabulous mix of natural smelling tobacco, florals and woods that wear like an Eau de Cologne, but have impressive endurance. The perfume really focuses on the tobacco and woods primarily, but they never turn too deep or overpowering, adding a very different spin to the genre while keeping to the "easy to wear," casual presentation one might expect from an EdC. The late dry-down is probably the weakest aspect of the perfume, but even there the amber led finish never stands out in a bad way or gets too sweet as the cedar and sandalwood balance it nicely. I rarely mention bottles, but in this case the beautiful real wood bottle makes for exceptional housing, though the very wide "splash on" opening could indeed lead to *splashing* on the cologne unintentionally, so consider wearers forewarned. The bottom line is the $120 per 60 ml bottle "excellent" 4 stars out of 5 rated Kolonya may not be the typical Eau de Cologne expected, but instead the wearer gets a more distinctive offering that never veers *too* far from its historical "easy to wear" EdC peers, earning it an easy recommendation to just about anyone.

Lazy Sunday Morning
In the early morning, I often find it difficult to choose a fragrance. The opening often seems too harsh, too fresh, too demanding to please me and my sleepy companions. For autumnal, Sunday early risers (or whatever one considers early on a Sunday...), it has to be something rounded. Something that carries the spa effect into the day after a long shower. And that is exactly what Kolonya is for me: an all-around soothing feel-good scent with a gentle cuddle factor.

It begins for a few seconds with a fresh cedar opening that quickly integrates into the fragrance. There is no distinct further development; instead, Kolonya presents itself as a grand overall picture. Anyone who thinks that, due to the high number of fragrance notes, they will get a crude mishmash or an expansive perfume cloud is mistaken. Extremely well-balanced, a fruity plum, subtly natural sweet flowers (but not fresh-clean) and a woody warmth take center stage in this scent. Delicate spicy and citrus nuances support the other notes, while a bit of musk and hay remain muted in the background. And it is this rounded, composed, perfumed warmth that makes Kolonya so special for me. It envelops you in complete, cozy well-being. Other fragrances can achieve this too, but they often lean more towards the amber, vanilla side and come across as significantly stronger and more expansive.

At no time is the Rasei Fort characterized by a dominant sweetness or floral abundance. It comes across as absolutely unisex and fits just as well at home as it does at work. The name Kolonya suggests something different than what you actually get.

Aromatic Plum Cologne
A garden in the countryside. A warm plum cake on the windowsill. You on the bench in front of it. The sun shines on your face.

This cozy and familiar feeling is conveyed by Kolonya. It is a bit nostalgic, lightly classic in tone, but also connected to the present. A balanced connection that is drawn with a light hand.

Actually, it is not a Cologne in the conventional sense. While it has citrus, spice, a certain light freshness, and a woody base, these classic components are just a few among many. Just as complex as the note descriptions suggest, it is (according to the perfumer, just over 100 different materials were used).

At the center for me is a fruity plum, slightly leaning towards dried fruit. Surrounding it are all the other components, flowing together wonderfully into a homogeneous unit. There is the, especially at the beginning, more noticeable slightly bitter-citrusy companion. Then a wonderfully understated aromatic spice, where the clove stands out slightly and brings in this classic-elegant vibe without ever appearing sweaty. A rosy floral note can be discerned in the heart, subtly underlined by light green notes and a gentle hint of tobacco. The framework is formed by a dry woodiness. And above all hovers a very subtle soapiness. This results in an incredibly complex, warm-aromatic, well-groomed image, not really fresh, but also not heavy, wonderfully straddling the worlds and a bit quirky, not caring about expectations, delightfully pleasing, valuable, and naturally appearing. Additionally, it is pleasantly restrained with barely noticeable sillage and a rather manageable wear time of about 3 hours.

This is one of those fragrances that unexpectedly and deeply stand out in the whole fragrance marathon, as they connect to the familiar, do not make big experiments, but still break expectations and somehow appear new and unused. A gem that is definitely recommended for testing.

Info about the brand:
Fort & Manlé is an Australian niche brand from Melbourne, whose high-quality and high-priced fragrances are not yet well known here. Rasei Fort, a Turkish-Australian, is the head and nose behind the brand and has released ten fragrances since 2016.

They achieved a manageable level of recognition through the YouTube reviews by FragranceView (Peter) some time ago.

This fragrance is the only one so far under the line "Rasei Fort-Collection" and is said to be a particularly private scent, incorporating certain childhood memories of his grandfather. It is limited in production to 40 liters, which have been macerating for 4 years, and is, according to the perfumer, no longer available afterward. It is also only sold as a splash bottle (60ml/145 $), which is surely a homage to the classic Colognes.
Luca Turin has given it a 5-star rating, by the way.

I would like to thank the dear Parfumo NikEy very much for the opportunity to get to know this.

rasei fort enchanted 4711

and indeed: what initially appears as a more refined 4711 becomes much more complex, fruity, and mossy just a minute later. like a subtle reminder of "fatih sultan mehmed," this new fragrance arrives:
fresh-spicy in the top note, later noble-fruity with elegant spice:
the plum floats on bright lavender and gains structure from rosemary and coriander.
the base, amber-woody, remains quiet and transparent.
like a gossamer veil, this fragrance wraps around the skin. completely unobtrusive, yet persistently fresh and golden-spicy.
starting as a typical eau de cologne, "kolonya" evolves into a subtle, skin-close, yet substantial fragrance aura after just half an hour, exuding elegance, sophistication, and sensuality.

A garden both carefully planted and allowed to overgrow itself. Hot foliage, thorns, young flowers, crushed seeds underfoot. A masterpiece.

Despite the abundance of ingredients, it’s not an overwhelming, chaotic scent. Wood, fruit, spice, and a subtle hint of earthiness create a lovely fragrance.

It somehow contains everything (citrusy, then woody, minimally floral, maybe lavender and plum, hay), yet remains subtle.

I can somehow smell all the ingredients from the scent pyramid. Interesting: when it fades, it comes back double & triple. Crazy!

This is how I imagine a "real" Berber shop in Turkey. Fresh, dark, a bit musty - but beautiful. An absolute masterpiece!
