Little big declaration of love...

A couple of sample bottles reached me a while back as a nice goodie from an online order. None of the labels said anything to me, but as a perfume newbie, that was to be expected. A bit curious I was then but when I put the samples in the fancy little bag over and over again from one corner to the other.
So I did, as one should not do: All fragrances applied to different places on the arm.... :) Well, oh dear! Well, too late.
I was a bit surprised that actually all of them were reasonably pleasant in first impression, and I had a faint suspicion that the scent samples might have actually aligned with my order. How nice!

Even before I get the idea to sniff my arm a second time, a warm soft sweet scent rises in my nose, of which I have previously perceived purely nothing. I look for the origin and find it on the left arm...

Madness!!! What is this genius? I've never experienced that before...okay, I've loved Gaultier² for years.... and as intense and overpowering Gaultier is, I got it as a gift at the time, felt it too intense at first, and only loved it over all as it progressed. If I could only have one perfume- it's only ever been that! Until now. But this now - this fragrance almost ties me to my arm in such a way that I don't even want to exhale anymore but only inhale! The second great love! (... ok, maybe I'm neglecting some other much loved scents now, but it's just my enthusiasm talking...) but anyway, I MUST have this one....

But which scent is it?
I of course forgot which sample is where now and can tell you, I got really anxious searching because I was worried I just wouldn't find it... the felt eternal but in truth few minutes it takes for it to develop and for me to realize which one it is, was worth it. There it is.

I don't have much idea about fragrance notes and individual nuances. I find it to be very soft, creamy, warm.... Vanilla, amber, white musk and almond are definitely leading the way here. It's overwhelming, intense, spicy, hot and sexy... the hint of anise (which I actually don't like at all) I notice -only because it's officially stated- so minimally at the beginning that it completely melts into the scent and doesn't bother me at all, in fact fits really well. It lasts incredibly long and doesn't lose intensity. It becomes more even, a little quieter, but it remains strong and full. If he is woody, then it would be at best as a cozy warm, burning firewood, in the room caramel toffees in a little distance on the table....
Just do not be too generous, because otherwise he probably slays you with force and can then certainly be too intense that it would be a shame...

The fact that Charms doesn't have a comment yet is completely beyond me. I would love to keep it for myself, bunker all the bottles and tell no one how great I find him. But since it's certainly not everyone like me I'll take the risk - and maybe he still pleases someone else as much as me :)
