Unsnobby elegance
"Turbulences" is one of the perfumes from the 1980's which I purchased several times as "extrait", because it was not too expensive for a young student and its super-rich formulation had immense staying-power. Layers and layers of flowers (carnation, rose, ylang-ylang) are intensified and mixed with real oakmoss, warm chords of nutmeg, caraway and aromatic ambery notes in the base. The impact of this scent is enormous, I wouldn't wear it in the morning, it's better suited for after-dark occasions. "Turbulences" might come on a little too strong today, it's a genuine child of the 80's. What I really love about it, is its "unsnobby elegance". This fragrance is a creature of the concrete jungle, made for town and for people with a sense of urban adventure.

Please fasten your seatbelts...
...because it gets turbulent right from the start when mint and cumin emphasize the top note of a perfume. It's a bit quirky at first, and I'm not quite sure if I really like it or if I just find it interesting. Either way, the perfume has my undivided attention.

But fear not, as the scent calms down after a while and reveals to us with its spicy floral heart something familiar from the 80s, which is no longer surprising. Now Turbulences reminds me of the old Miss Dior Original or Femme by Rochas. Although, a little wink of mischief is still preserved; it's not entirely ladylike, as nutmeg and pepper, while used very subtly, give the fragrance a cheeky spicy note. That's a bit of an edge, an Aha effect that I love in fragrances and which is unfortunately becoming rarer. There’s nothing smoothed out; the perfume doesn’t aim to please everyone. The heart note is clearly dominated by tuberose, which will surely limit its number of admirers.

The dry down becomes powdery-woody, very soft, and now the scent has nothing turbulent about it anymore; the waves have smoothed out. The longevity is fantastic, and it was a pleasure for me to be able to take a journey through time once again.

What bothers me a little, and is why I rated it at 70%, is the fact that the perfume changes so much in character over time. From exceptionally cheeky and expressive to ladylike and pleasingly soft, some Parfumo users might find that interesting. Personally, I prefer a fragrance that has a progression with tension but doesn’t completely change its mood.

Musky rose bouquet with peppery and green facets.
Not bad.

The name says it all: It starts with cool aldehydic freshness + mint, moving through lush flowers with warm spices to a soft, woody base. Great!

Often worn, loved for its rapid start & soft finish. Plus, a green glow and very high recognition value.
