Charlie Red Revlon 1993 Eau de Toilette

I never was a Charlie girl. I was too young when it became popular in my part of the world. And when I finally started to wear fragrances, Charlie had already suffered the ‘too cheap and too many competitors’ death. There were simply so many other gorgeous fragrances to wear, so Charlie went under my radar. Many years later I got both Charlie and Charlie Red among others in a big bargain box. But even then I did not pay much attention to them. They just stood there on the shelf.
Finally I picked up Charlie Red from 1993. It is good. Really good. I did expect to kill my sense of smell, mainly because of the pricing. Not all cheapies are goodies. Some are even roughies. But CR belongs with the beauties. Soft. Creamy. Powdery. At first. Like a cuddly kitten. After twenty to thirty minutes it warms up and becomes more fruity with loads of floral notes. And then I start to notice the honey, the cedar and the sandalwood. CR lasts for quite some time.
My bottle is from 2011, so it does not have the original, deeper notes. And even then it really smells so good. I shall hunt down an older bottle.
