Womanly, Appealing, and Pleasant
I finally got my hands on this jewel. It was sitting on the shelf for €4,90, next to its sibling, Blue. And it turns out to be glorious! Well, I was looking for some reviews for Charlie Blue, which wanted to find out if it's the same scent as the classic Charlie, and I came across Red, which builds around the white flower's punch of tuberose, jasmine, and gardenia. Sometimes fragrances are initially not for you, and they need time to break through your heart and soul before you finally fall in love with them... and this is one of them. By the looks of it, Charlie Red doesn't seem to have many fans on here. However, I am proudly one of them from now on. With more notes than a magnum opus, Charlie Red has everything you could imagine, you name it, it's in there. This could be a general mess in the wrong hands, but the nose has fiddled with the dials until everything is just at the right volume. It smells more expensive than it is.

Charlie Red starts out very boozy as soon as I spray it. At first, it mightn't smell pleasant, with a familiar fruity-floral hairspray vibe, and I can understand some negative opinions here and there, but that is typical of such cheapie scents. So don't be hasty. It's quite good after a short while, all too tuberous, honeyed, and green, but then morphs into a delicately sweet white floral bouquet with no single flower taking center stage. The perfumer here attempts to keep the screaming tuberose on a leash by pairing it with a creamy magnolia and a very fresh Lily of the Valley. It almost works. The tuberose still muscles its way to the front, but in a more restrained, well-rounded way than usual thanks to a rich dose of honey, peach, and mellow orange blossom. When the violet leaf rises, it is pleasantly powdery, enforcing the make-up vibe. Let me tell you, I grow my own gardenias on my terrace; I know what the real flower smells like, and it surprised me to see how the nose replicated even that fleeting sweetness that comes with every puff. Nothing synthetic about it, if you ask me. The opening of Charlie Red is tender; it has an almost petal-like softness, even though you can smell some things to come.

The more it moves to the heart, the more it gets fruity, floral, burnt, and smoky. On my skin, I can definitely detect the sweetest notes of the yellow flowers, ylang-ylang, and orchid, mixed with the white flowers, which give off a waxy, vintage lipstick vibe. There is the slightly high-pitched whine of berries, rose and blackcurrant floating effortlessly over the top. And yet, it's never sticky-sweet. Instead, the carnation, and I swear some aldehydic note, keep it fresh. That's why people are saying it has a cottony, laundry, and soapy vibe to it. However, I don't find it off-putting as on myself. I catch hints of more of a clean cotton fragrance that I think is actually more of the carnation note. The peach is very dominant. It's ripe, honeyed, and has the peach skin velvet quality that I find rather sexy.

When the dry down comes to the flowery aspect tones down, the sensual notes of precious woods occur. It's woody, and a lot, over smooth and milky vanilla and sandalwood base. The cedar sits in the background. Instead, I get the burnt smell of roasted Tonka, which might come from the coumarin and honeyed amber shades. Somewhat a surprise to me, as I rarely like sweet fragrances, but there is a freshness to it that I love. The freshness even overcomes the honey. At this final stage the fragrance has a familiar aroma, and it took me a while to match it. You know what? That's the delicate fragrance of NIVEA Creme, which takes me back to my childhood and a summer’s day appears in my mind’s eye when I smell that all-purpose body cream in the blue tin. Scents influence our feelings and memories. The Nivea's scent is as pure and "simple" as it is multifaceted, a cream that "tastes good", remembers a soft perfume that pampers you. It is an aroma that envelops the skin and senses and simply ... makes you feel good!

I love the fine, casual, slightly intoxicating mash of florals and booze. Sillage softens dramatically after the first hour, but it has impressive staying power. Even after half a day, I was still getting friendly little floral whiffs floating up to my nose. I tested it last night before going to bed, and this morning I woke up with a gentling and cuddling redolence coming from my wrist, and yeah, it still was there under my skin. I can match its floral notes with formal daywear, casual weekend apparel, and it can add a hint of eroticism to that little black cocktail dress. Spring and Fall are the best seasons for me.
A cheapie fragrance that does not disappoint. If you want to take a dip in the past to rediscover joy and carefree, that typical hint of spring that looks timid, a fragrance that does not invade but remains soft on the skin. I have heard that Red layered on Blue is very interesting. Close your eyes and take a deep breath. Even blindfolded, there’s no mistaking it: the fragrance of Nivea cream is there. Definitely worth trying with such a great price!

This review bases on a 100 ml (3.4 Fl. oz) I own since Aug 2020.

Underrated gem
It's totally different than Charlie Blue.
This one is powdery, floral, long lasting scent. It's totally all year arounder and easily wearable at any time. Tuberose, carnation, violet, gardenia... Tons of flowers in this bouquet.... If Sarah Key illustrations had scent, this would be the perfect one.
Too bad that this quality perfume is marked as cheap because it definitely doesn't perform as common cheap ones, but on the other hand.... I'm glad that it's cheap so I can get it anytime I want. Many people (especially younger generations), will not reach for it because it's "cheap" and in "ugly" bottle and there's nothing fancy about it at first glance... But inside is liquid gold..... So, "don't judge a book by its cover", you've heard that one, I'm sure.....
Just a little note, if the tester bottle is empty in the store, don't bother trying it through the cap or the sprayer, try it only if there is perfume in the bottle.
It resembles so much to Red Door. Many people were disappointed because they thought it was a Red Door exact dupe but it just resembles to that perfume a lot.... Just in case you are Red Door fan, don't blind buy it cuz you might get disappointed. I saw no point in getting RD because I'm just not addicted to that scent so much to complain about CR being a bad or poor copy. They are similar but not worth 40 euros from the price difference and I'm not asking for CR to play the role of RD copy..... Charlie is doing it's job perfectly and I'm very happy with it.

Charlie Red is my darling!!
Charlie my love what have you done...
Red as your deep red blood
Sparkly as your two smart eyes.

I bought Cherlie Red after read some reviews and after some time ago.
I think this winter but don't remember when.
Maybe it was November...?
It doesn't matter at all.

I like tuberose and have some collection with perfumes with this flower.
I like vintagy soapy perfumes and I like laundry, fresh and woody notes.

That's all is in my bottle of Charlie Red, yes the Red if you see the commercial is a littlebit funny and you think that this perfume is very sexy like a tiger jumps from a roof in a velvety red carpet.

I forgot to say how bubbly this is and not heavy at all at least on me.

I was about to give it for a swap after a first spritz some months ago but suddenly a "click" happend in my mind and I open my huge wardrobe where I keep most of my perfumes and start spraying it and testing it.

I love you Charlie.
IDK how much our relationship it is going to last but for the moment I really love your clean, fresh, bubbly flowery hug that I'm in.
PS:Very underrated guys...

Stereotypical Carnation-Heavy 80s Floral
Charlie Red is an inexpensive fragrance, usually found in discount stores or hidden in small-town chemists. For the price, I really didn't expect much, although I must admit that I enjoy the original Charlie and Charlie Gold.

Charlie Red is a sweet, warm and classy floral. It is surprisingly creamy and long lasting on the skin, with tuberose, carnation, peach, gardenia, ylang ylang and amber. I find it very easy to like.

Charlie Red does tend to open rather loud at first, however the heart and drydown are much smoother. I can honestly say that the top notes do smell mature, however the creamy, sweet drydown suggests that it can be worn by any woman, of any age.

It's not an overly complex fragrance, but it's not boring either. I think it would make an excellent and affordable staple in any perfume wardrobe. I also wouldn't hesitate to try blending Charlie Red with other fragrances. It could add a pleasant, creamy white floral quality to anything spicy or citrusy.

This might come as a shock to some, but Charlie Red is actually quite sexy. I can definitely see this inexpensive gem gaining quite a few compliments. Not bad for something so cheap. I recommend.

Very helpful Review 13
Hello Charlie
This one is also a youth treasure.
Back then, it was the only wearable and affordable scent from the drugstore.
Forgotten over the years.
Then I saw it at Rossmann and vaguely remembered it.
Of course, I tested it right away and bought it. I haven't regretted it. I actually still like it. It has a floral and abundant scent. But not as biting as, for example, some millionaire ladies. Much better. And cheaper. Just not as modern and hip. And unfortunately, the bottle is not fitting; otherwise, it might have gained more recognition.
On the other hand, it has been around since 1993. And I don't think without reason.

Lighter and more flowery than the blue one, it's a pleasant fragrance for every day at a small price. Another "never without" in my wardrobe

This fragrance is a nostalgic flashback to the 90s. Classic yet bold and youthful.

Well-blended, unassuming, clean 90s floral. Very nice after the rough aldehydic opening calms down.

After reading all the recommendations here, when I saw this on the shelf, I said, "Why not?" and am very glad I did. Like a touch of summer!

In the 90s, I hated this scent. Now, I tested it for the first time in a long time, and it’s a powdery-sweet fragrance with a solid 7.5 for 4 euros.

Floral with a woody musk base, very tight budget, reduced retro. Faded, pale red.

Too strongly scented, old-fashioned cream soap. White flowers + fruits come off very artificial. Overbearing + quite sweet. Not for me.

A practical, not overly rich floral scent with a hint of fruit and a creamy finish.

For a small price (6.-), extremely long-lasting with great sillage and scent. Lots of flowers with a hint of plum and tuberose. A timeless classic.

A hit for us teenagers, but it was "Red". Anyway, this is a lovely reminder of past times and a nice companion.
