Bright, clean, feminine, beautiful and very easy to wear
This latest LVEB flanker opens as a bright fresh floral vanilla with a hint of powder and musk and stays pretty linear throughout its life on my skin.

It’s nothing like LVEB OG, in fact, the minute I whiffed it, my immediate thoughts were “This is Lancôme doing a gentler Libre”, and that’s it!

Where YSL Libre is a nuclear bomb of lavender, bourbon vanilla, orange blossom, jasmine and musk. LVEB is a toned down version of these exacts notes except they went easy on the lavender.. but, to my nose, there’s defo lavender there despite it not being listed. And there’s a little hint of neroli dancing with the orange blossom too.

And you know what, it’s absolutely beautiful and delightful. Where I struggled with the overpowering Libre that causes me headaches if worn indoors, Vanilla Nude is extremely easy to wear and a joy to wear. It’s bright, clean and feminine, beautiful and extremely comforting everytime a whiff catches my nose with its slight envelope of powdery musk that makes it very much a gorgeous perfume. It’s beautifully blended, as to be expected of a Lancôme but this was also created by one of my fav perfumer collabs, Anne Flipo and Dominique Ropion. I find whenever they work together that Flipo tempers some of Ropions loudness to create beautiful, wearable popular fragrances.

So would I get a full bottle? Well, there wasn’t anything that really jumped out at me and made my brain go ‘I need this IMMEDIATELY’. It’s a perfect office, day wear scent and if I was gifted a bottle I would happily use it up. I would certainly reach for it more readily than my LVEB OG with its strong, sensual praline dry down (I think I’ve worn that once this year). So looking forward to wearing this sample a few times, I could see me falling for this as a new office scent.

Vanilla extract
First whiff was mediocre. Strong LVEB scent surrounded by a cloud of vanilla. It became interesting around 10min after. It’s been 4 hours and the dry down is a stuffy vanilla scent, nothing else remains. Not in a cookie or fresh vanilla pod kinda way but like some people said, a bit like a vanilla scented candle or one of those scented car things. Binning the sample I got.

Vanilla perfume: but is it still okay to say vanilla?
At the beginning, I found the fragrance extremely unpleasant. I was literally overwhelmed by a penetrating wave of synthetic vanilla, which immediately combined with the all-too-familiar, sweet cloud of perfume from La Vie est Belle. It's scratchy, biting and unpleasantly sweet in a strange way - almost artificial and too overpowering.

But the whole thing calms down after a while. The drydown is much more pleasant and reminds me of the limited-edition Vanilla Marshmallow collection from The Body Shop - albeit a little more floral. An indefinable fruity note also resonates and therefore remains diffuse and difficult to grasp. Overall, it is sweet, vanilla-like, creamy and yet clearly synthetic.

Conclusion: It is not a total failure, but also far from a highlight. In view of the multitude of better composed vanilla perfumes on the market, this fragrance remains rather below average for me.

Scented candle
Just bought a 30ml bottle at my local perfumery - was on offer for 52€ including a beach towel as a gift The scent is very strong - like most of this range (although NOT all LVEB flankers..). It reminds me strongly of the typical, rather synthetic reaching vanilla scented candle or room freshener- sounds rather off-putting..and yet strangely it suits the scent well. I smell a strong, non-edible (no gourmand!) rather old school vanilla that is 100% enriched with coconut, even though this is not stated. It is somewhat reminiscent of Chopard Cashmir in modern version minus the apricots. I don't smell any flowers or fruits, just some musk and wood. It's a fine fragrance but I have to be careful with the dosage - one spray is enough! Especially in warm weather. I think the fragrance is better in winter and in the evening. The bottle is beautiful even if not my favorite from the LVEB range - it suggests more of a floaty, soft vanilla, although the opposite is inside.

Soft “skin-scent” vanilla with intimate reach. Lacks the patchouli and aggressive praline sweetness of the original.

A toned-down version of La Vie est Belle with a hint of vanilla. It's kinda okay, but nothing that really stands out.

Like Mariah Cary naked fresh out the shower and put some vanilla lotion on. Silky, Smooth, Clean Vanilla. This on a 40 yo would be BOMB!!!
