5.1 is Bullshit…

I am not a big fragrance connoisseur nor am I good at smelling and describing scents and their individual ingredients. But I find the rating does not correspond to the fragrance. I understand why people are pissed off,

“Oh, a new Roja” “Oh, another Elysium” expectations might be high and yes, the scent is not new and it wasn't really needed, and yes, the price is also ridiculous for the fragrance, but all of that does not make it a bad scent.

I would actually describe it as a spicier version of Y by YSL and Invictus. For me, this one, in contrast to most reviews, is less synthetic and more wearable than Y and Invictus. That is the point that makes the fragrance good for me, I like both of the aforementioned scents, but personally find them so penetrating and unbearable due to the synthetics that this one unites the actually not so bad scent of the two into a wearable fragrance. Furthermore, the Roja has a smoky/leathery touch. If I were to receive it as a gift, I would be happy and would wear the fragrance. It is a scent that can be worn anytime and anywhere.

Yes, it is not an innovation and it is also not what I expected, but a 5.1 is just bullshit in my opinion.

Addendum: it has absolutely nothing to do with the “Elysium” line. No citrus, no freshness that one knows from the predecessors.

I find the review appropriate.
To my nose, it's a synthetic scent that reminds me of cheap aftershaves. I won't spray it on again and have washed it off.

I can't follow this review. If I can't stand Oud, I wouldn't rate it a 5. I don't even test Oud fragrances. It’s really annoying, like those various "toilet block" reviews for citrus scents. If you don’t like citrus, then please don’t buy citrus fragrances. But this is a different situation. You pay for a Wagyu steak and get "good" supermarket quality. You buy champagne and get sparkling wine. It just doesn’t add up. So the bad reviews are completely justified.

I generally like citrus scents. Still, some smell fresh and citrusy, while others smell like synthetic toilet cleaner 😂! What I don't understand is why every scent that leans towards shower gel gets labeled as inferior. There are really many that are well-made and still get torn apart as cheap shower gel fragrances. And a lot of people just like that scent. But I can't say anything about the new Elysium yet...

That's not even sparkling wine. More like sparkling wine or something like "Asti Spumante." For all I care, it could be Lambrusco in a 5-liter Tetra Pak. To me, this is a basic teenage scent in a fancy-looking bottle at a completely unreasonable price.

With Roja, you’ve always primarily paid for the name and the marketing.
The quality of the oils has never been adequate (compared to, for example, HJ or AlD), and the creativity has mainly consisted of "new interpretations" even at its best.
In the past, they often drew from the vintage shelf, frequently from Guerlain, and some harsh critics called Roja a clone house.
Now they’re taking inspiration from modern designers.
I don’t really notice a loss in quality; rather, the direction of the house has changed according to a new focus, and they’re trying to appeal to a different target audience.
Oh, is it clever to change the established DNA so radically? Who knows, maybe it was simply a financial necessity for Roja or just the excitement of something new.

I don't like oud, but there are fragrances where it works well in a certain dose and composition. Whether the scent is supermarket quality, I can't judge as a layperson. I don't know how long the perfumer worked on it, and I have no idea what ingredients were used and in what quality. I'm not saying this disrespectfully, but I simply lack the expertise to assess it.

Reviews are meant to describe fragrances, not to get upset about others' ratings. Parfumo is there for everyone to share their individual scent impressions. If you can't handle that, maybe Parfumo isn't the right platform for you.

Well, I'm not going to explain what makes a community and what belongs to it or not, but part of being in a community is exchanging ideas and referencing what others write. As you mentioned, it's about individual impressions. If I were to write like most people do, saying that the scent is “synthetic, bad, not worthy of Roja, Elysium,” that would surely be individual enough for you...
