Honesty lasts the longest...

Hello everyone,

Today I would like to say something about Tea at BG.

I am a person for whom honesty is very, very important, but I know that nowadays this doesn’t always go down well, and especially online it’s often a certain "ride on the razor's edge". Nevertheless, I feel it is right and important to share this with you.

When the announcement came a few months ago that it was to be released, I was already a bit curious. And whether Roja Dove was actively involved in the creation, I do not know...

Now it is here (sample, no bottle) and off we went to test it.

The first minutes are exciting. A bit citrusy, fresh - fruity, and also somewhat bitter due to the tea used create an appealing opening, and its effect on other people is very, very good - especially the ladies really like it...

After that..., yes, not much happens anymore... - unfortunately!

Beforehand, I thought that it would play a bit (in the drydown) with Amber Aoud Parfum, "United Arab Emirates | Roja Parfums", and possibly with certain hints of Great Britain, but that is not the case.

You perceive individual notes more or less, but none stands out significantly (in the drydown) and it feels more like a "heap" of x components.

If I only evaluate the opening, then we can talk about an 8 to 8.5, but the pure drydown, well...

I am not a fan, and it is also not (!) my intention to put a fragrance down and so on, but there is one aspect of Tea at BG that strongly drives me towards "RAGE MODE", and that is the price!

It is always extremely thankless and sometimes unfair to evaluate something like this, because it is subjective. Nothing more and nothing less. Here you are of course paying (massively) for the fancy bottle, the cap, and the company behind it, the box, and exclusivity - these factors should not be overlooked...

Nevertheless, we are talking about 1000+ (new) and clearly over 10€ per ml...

That is a lot of money that you first have to have...

Is it worth it...?

HELL NO and not even close!

From a collector's perspective, it might be okay. But owning and wearing/using it for that price I consider very, very difficult. If someone had shown it to me and I didn’t know what it was..., I would have said we are talking a maximum of 100€ - 300€ for what it would be worth. With the knowledge of 1000+, I’m out!

A general note about Roja (maybe interesting for some):

In the past, this company was, alongside Amouage, XJ, and CC - my favorite house, because there were sooooo many wonderful and, in my opinion, unique fragrances, like for example Harrods pour Homme, Manhattan Parfum, the golden Roja (Haute Luxe), and the 3 APs... , and when I see what is happening there starting from 22/23, it breaks my heart.

(If you want to read my blog about it here - https://www.parfumo.de/Benutzer/Sirbennyone/Blog/Eintrag/roja-der-grosse-player-der-vergangenheit-und-der-heutige-weg-in-das-mittelmassige)

Nowadays it is just another house among many that operates significantly "overpriced" and their fragrances are a uniform mass, lacking anything high-quality, no edges, and everything is somehow fresh - citrusy - floral with a lot of sweetness + a certain creaminess.... - what a pity!

H/S?

Yes, good+ what is relatively typical for the house (even nowadays).

When - where?

Leisure or at a nice dinner or possibly for partying, and from September to May, I would say it fits quite well. In summer, I don’t recommend it, as it becomes too cloying, sweet, and sticky, which is quite disturbing.

My tip - test over several days, then possibly buy and NEVER blind. Because I am very glad that I didn’t...

And now have a nice day/evening or whenever you read this review, best regards, Benny
