Echoes Of The Past
A very special side of the perfume hobby is collecting miniature perfume bottles. It is not those who want to sample every new fragrance, it is the collectors who preserve the cultural heritage of perfumery. L'Homme de Rosella Fiora is such a fragrance that has exclusively left a trace in people's collections of miniatures. Except for a brief entry at Perfume Intelligence, nowhere else can be found anything about it.
AromiErotici gave me a generous sample – so he still seems to own a bottle. I can only report what I smell, no fragrance notes are available.
L'Homme de Rosella Fiora is an Aromatic Fougère, somehow the style of Azzaro pour Homme. It has a dark, ambery base with leather notes, that very much determine its character. On top of that, there are herbaceous and slightly floral notes. Their blend gives me a somehow cool and detached impression. They are in contrast to the spicy notes that can be found mainly in the top notes.
The spices are extraordinary. I smell caraway and most of all, cumin seed which provides a very dirty contrast to the cleaner and cooler heart notes. Perfumes with cumin are not my cup of tea since they often give me the impression of sweat. But once again, there are no bad notes, only poorly made perfumes. Never before I found cumin that perfectly blended into its environment – if what I smell should be cumin at all. The spiciness mingles together extremely well with the elegant middle notes. Unfortunately, no contemporary perfumer supposedly can get inspired by it.
But: L'Homme de Rosella Fiora is not a great fragrance. Its development – how interesting it may be – simply runs too fast. Just after an hour we are at the base notes, which is a dark and leathery accord. Without any further company, it appears a bit boring, and this drydown will then last for a couple of hours.
Even if I would not wear it myself – it is sad to see such a scent experience getting lost.
