Fresh, shampooy chypre

Lovely "womanly" perfume. Crisp, tart florals. Bright aromatics. Sharp oakmoss. This is a gentle take on the classic bitter green chypre. I see an above comparison to Jean Louise Scherrer. ST Dupont is much more laid back. Doesn't have that bitter-iris-leather thing going on.

Instead, this "pour femme" is almost pretty. Not full-on matronly, but certainly not juvenile. Comfortable, middle-aged.

I get mostly: an opening burst of unripe, fleshy fruits. Then a wash of white florals. Soon, the florals become softer, slightly powdery. But still very clean, like a soapy talcum. Finally, the earthy beauty of rosewood and oakmoss emerge, leaving a lovely trail of verdant woods with a hint of petrichor.

Very complex up close, but from afar, you will simply smell freshly-washed. As if you sprang for the expensive salon shampoo and just took a bubble bath. The currant note here has a tendancy to go off the fastest, and I have experienced bottles with an initial pissiness from that accord. Best to buy a sealed-in-box bottle.
