Fresh, shampooy chypre
Lovely "womanly" perfume. Crisp, tart florals. Bright aromatics. Sharp oakmoss. This is a gentle take on the classic bitter green chypre. I see an above comparison to Jean Louise Scherrer. ST Dupont is much more laid back. Doesn't have that bitter-iris-leather thing going on.

Instead, this "pour femme" is almost pretty. Not full-on matronly, but certainly not juvenile. Comfortable, middle-aged.

I get mostly: an opening burst of unripe, fleshy fruits. Then a wash of white florals. Soon, the florals become softer, slightly powdery. But still very clean, like a soapy talcum. Finally, the earthy beauty of rosewood and oakmoss emerge, leaving a lovely trail of verdant woods with a hint of petrichor.

Very complex up close, but from afar, you will simply smell freshly-washed. As if you sprang for the expensive salon shampoo and just took a bubble bath. The currant note here has a tendancy to go off the fastest, and I have experienced bottles with an initial pissiness from that accord. Best to buy a sealed-in-box bottle.

Like a moss green silk dress...
After a long abstinence (about 3 months…) I treated myself to 3 blind buys. I had been eyeing this one for a while. Galbanum, black currant, oak moss, chypre… this should appeal to me. Yes, I like it, and how.

To start, Pour Femme is hard to describe; all the ingredients blend so well together that I only catch a note briefly before it disappears and the next one hits my nose. Galbanum defines the green-herbaceous opening, remaining present throughout the entire fragrance journey (you should like it). Lemon and black currant provide the fruity-fresh note. That keeps my nose engaged, but in the heart note, it becomes more challenging; the flowers are a potpourri of various aromas, finely balanced with spice, like a lovingly prepared dinner, while the base is earthy and woody.

Pour Femme is not for lovers of sweet or floral scents. The fragrance is cool, elegant, but also subtly sexy. I think of a moss green silk dress with a deep back neckline, casually draped over the shoulders with a biker leather jacket.

Those who love scents like Balmain de Balmain, Coriandre, Aliage, and Cabochard will probably also enjoy Pour Femme.

I find the longevity and sillage not as strong as indicated here, rather in the medium range. The bottle is simple and elegant, fitting well with the fragrance. Only for ladies? I think men could wear it too; the mentioned powdery note that might bother some guys, I don’t notice; I would describe the scent as more dry than powdery.

The second blind buy, an Ungaro, is so hideous that I’m at a loss for words, the third, an Arden from the 80s, is still untested. But I’m sure I will like it.

not everybody's darling
On days like today, when my backside feels like it's about to fall off from all the frost, my nose needs something more powerful, unshakeable, and protective - a real tough guy, so to speak, who won't run out of steam even in the harshest east wind.
Such a devil-may-care scent can only be a seasoned Chypre, preferably one from the old school - one of those guys who take "Stand by me!" literally and for whom it really takes biting cold to not send half my surroundings into an olfactory coma.
Such a fragrance is "S.T. Dupont pour Femme," which I can hardly believe hasn't received any further attention here - it's high time to rub it a bit under the inclined noses of the ladies and gentlemen of Parfumo!
Admittedly - the opening is a bit intense with its whirl of barely distinguishable fruits and flowers, which from the very first moment is underscored by a peculiar spiciness that vaguely reminds me of lovage (exactly: the Maggi herb!) and for which the fragrance pyramid offers no real explanation.
Anyone expecting a summery fruit salad at this stage will be disappointed - on my skin, the fruitiness develops much more in a green direction, evoking thoughts of peels and leaves, but not at all of juicy, sweet, mouth-watering pulp.
I can't make out a clear distinction to the floral heart note; the transitions are at best fluid, and in the flower garden, clove, rose, and ylang-ylang dominate, also completely unsweet and not overly feminine due to the already mentioned spicy undertone.
"S.T. Dupont pour Femme" truly becomes beautiful after a few hours when the herbaceous-dry warmth of the base note unfolds - here I distinctly perceive oak moss and woods, with patchouli in the background adding temperament and depth without conjuring up a graveyard feeling, and it stays that way until the shower the next morning.
Overall, "S.T. Dupont pour Femme" is certainly not Everybody’s Darling - I associate it with rather unconventional, rugged, and yet extremely attractive women like Ellen Barkin or today's Jane Birkin, who slip away from any attempt at classification and simply are themselves with a slightly crooked grin.
Just like I would like to be.

Wooden Edge with a Cassis Leaf on Top
Dark blue velvety elegant box with golden embossed lettering.
Très chic!
Starts with Scherrer-esque cool bitterness, which then envelops a fully ripe cassis berry..
It continues into a floral cool elegance.
The dew-drenched fleshy magnolia blossom gets a bit of spice from the typical Chypre protagonist, the garden carnation..
I still smell hints of cassis..
Lily of the valley evokes a familial connection to Cabotine... with green, green stems.
On the tissue, Pour Femme sounds very, very unisex and somewhat harsh, almost masculine.

On my skin, everything remains a bit fruitier... if one should even mention fruit - because I find fruit not very present here.
By the way, I unfortunately do not smell any violet at any time.

Compared to the alleged twin Scherrer, S. T. Dupont is really fruitier;-)
S. T. Dupont reminds me much more of Balmain de Balmain.

On my skin, it sounds very cool and absolutely unsweet and unwarm... only miniminimally powdery (like a cool dry compact powder stone.

S.T. D. Pour Femme is almost masculine bitter - woody on my skin.

I think it should not be missing from any Chypre fan collection.

The bottle fits absolutely:
It is elegant, not kitschy, noble, and the flip top reminds me of a Zippo from nostalgic times.

I see the scent on a self-assured woman. A French woman in a jacket and with a ... silk blouse (there we have the silky blouse attribute again).
However, the lady wears a velvet ribbon bow and tousled hair - the bottle fits into a vintage Aigner handbag.

The wearer does not need Chanel bags - they are too conformist.
Despite the elegant look and sophisticated attitude, she is somehow wild and cheeky..
The scent would also suit the type Alexa Chung..

Chique
The perfume is beautifully and elegantly packaged. The company, which also sells leather goods among other things, has designed a packaging made of blue suede leather. The bottle is also unusual, featuring a flip-top closure. The scent starts off unsweetened and aromatic, with woody notes present from the very beginning. I perceive a hint of bitterness in the background. I had high hopes for rosewood, but given the number of notes, it is only very subtly represented. As it develops, the green-herb scent becomes even less sweet and, for my taste, somewhat strict and dry. I can imagine it suiting an elegant lady, regardless of age.
I can imagine that the original version, developed in the late nineties, has been somewhat toned down. The perfumers are probably not used to this herbal freshness anymore. My nose is certainly recovering from the gourmand-fruity-floral overdose in many scents that follow the trends.

Familiar bouquet of spring-green flowers, fluffy, fruity, yet pleasantly herbal. Reserved, distant, a bit silky. Quite okay!

You should never underestimate Dupont. Noble fruit blend on flowers (not the other way around) with green-warm accents, but hardly any chypre notes.

Classic and (season)less, not old-fashioned, spicy, bright, fresh. This is not for La-Vie-Est-Belle women and little girls.

Fruity-light, is that a thing? Yep, despite the clear fruit in the top and heart, it's airy and floating. Not sweet, not too bitter. Good vibes.

I really like it, would almost give it 8 points. Elegant green floral scent with minimal oak moss. Not a "true" chypre.

Refined gentle elegance through the fresh scent of blackcurrant/flowers + alluring galbanum resin. A subtle noble chypre that embraces you. A sense of security.

I find this juicy light green fruity melon-moss chypre absolutely wonderful. It could be a delightful office scent.

A gentle Chypre. Light, floral, suitable for everyday wear. Perfectly balanced. True perfumer's art, in my opinion.
