This feels like rolling around in an herb garden, crushing the thyme and rosemary in your palms and inhaling deeply the rich, earthy, camphoric green aroma. It's so deeply satisfying and welcome on a hot summer evening. The opening is just gorgeous, laurel leaf with citrus, acerbic and fresh, it reminds me of cooking in the south of France, on a late summer evening. It starts off strong, like a typical Italian cologne, grabbing your attention, filling the room with your presence, but settles beautifully into the most comforting aroma of a woody patchouli that stays with you for a good while, not something I've experienced with a lot of other Santa Maria Novella fragrances.
