I was very curious about this Lutens and finally had the opportunity to test Serge Noire. Good thing I didn't order a bottle blind.
What happened? My "flower skin" has once again thrown a wrench in my plans. Another harsh scent that I can cross off my list.
This fragrance is really very dark. On my skin, the predominant scent is that of smoldering. A smell like burning plastic. Slightly sweet with a lot of smoke. This impression remains constant throughout. Later, the clove joins the abundant smoke. However, I prefer it in Vitriol d'Œillet. In the end, ashes are left on my skin.
The good Serge is said to have thought of a phoenix for this composition. The mystical bird that burns up in a fireball and then rises from the ashes. The burning has been well captured by M. Lutens. I cannot perceive the rebirth of the firebird on my skin.
It smells wonderful to me... and I should know, I'm currently using it as a pillow spray at night! Spray it on fabric, and if it still smells great, then it's not your skin but your nose that's the issue.
