Ambre sultan Serge Lutens 1993 Eau de Parfum

Inspired by the reviews I have me a bottling Ambre Sultan come. In the first moment after spraying, a fruity-vanilla cloud comes to me. I think of vanilla ice cream with hot cherries or red fruit jelly with eggnog. This disappears after a few minutes and I perceive a strong herbaceous note.
This is supposed to be an Oriental? Again and again I smell disappointed in it and wonder where I know the smell. Now it comes to me! It smells like a neglected backyard on a hot afternoon in full sun. The half-dried wild herbs give off a tart smell, somehow it smells like rusty metal and in the back corner a dog had surely peed. It smells somehow wild and uncultivated.
After 20 minutes develops very slowly a warm, soft and balanced fragrance. He envelops me like a silk caftan. But the wild, animal remains in the background and reminds me that life is not a Hollywood movie, but multilayered and uncontrollable. Really ingenious!
By the way, I do not understand why many think such fragrances fit only in the cold season. I was in Dubai and Southeast Asia. People there wear these fragrances even during the day. And I found them magical in dry heat and even more so in humid heat. Ambre Sultan is also a summer scent. Give it a try!
