Hmm, they are definitely different. I think I know what you mean by animalistic with the Hermes. The leather here is more... hmm... polished and shiny, not so 'wild' anymore... but maybe still worth a test 🙂

I find it leathery and spicy - yes, also herbal and woody, as you said, that describes it very well. It's true, for a Lutens, it starts off quite loud (to me, also bright), but it softens and quiets down after a short time. The leather and powdery notes linger.

After many hours of wear, I also noticed a kind of sweetness in the base (which isn't listed in the notes) that makes the scent a bit rounder... I definitely see it for fall/winter in cooler weather, and I'll be sure to give it another sniff 🙂

The leather is definitely the dominant note for me in this fragrance, but it's a very dry, almost woody leather note that I find quite pleasant over time.

... a cloud of musk lingers in the background, but the brighter, softer leather remains very present. It reminds me of a very dry, unsweetened version of Hermès 'Cuir D'Ange'... elegant, expensive, a bit aloof, well-crafted.
It's a bit too harsh for me and too similar to other fragrances I know, but it's definitely a fine new creation in the SL universe.
