Banaler Aufbau mit erstaunlicher Wirkung.
There I stood today in front of the Shanghai Tang collection and casually sprayed L'Orient on myself.
Scent impression:
The well-known "Jardin-Style" floral accord from Hermes. The whole thing is then slightly veiled by a lightly silvery-silken resin note. As it develops, there are subtle hints of woods.
Afterwards, I tried other "substantial" fragrances. (d'Osmanthe, Perris Monte Carlo. Apsu, Ulrich Lang. And something from Morph. Patchouly, Etro). Each distinctive in its own way.
Why did I keep smelling L'Orient at that point? The stronger and more complex the other test fragrances became, the more I liked it. As simply constructed, clean, and familiar as it seemed at first, it left them all behind. Of course, this is individual and always subjective, but also somehow astonishing.
I mean Carlos Benaim has once again gently reinterpreted familiar and well-known scent sequences by subtly layering them. He has avoided tension arcs, leaving out everything dominant and pushing to the forefront. In my opinion, he has created a comprehensible and readable fragrance with L'Orient. Essentially a simple scent. But that too requires a certain skill.
