Exotic Powder
Ahhh, recently one of the traveling packages finally arrived at my place. With the endless number of samples, I just took the first one I got my hands on and lo and behold, it was one of the fragrances from simimi.
Simimi is a brand by Mireia Navarro, who is referred to as a dreamer. She tries to capture the moment of true love with her creations. Each fragrance represents a special woman, who in the description is also referred to as goddesses or legends due to their achievements or strong character.
So then… I’ll just start with Blanc de Sisa.
It’s about Sisa Abu Daooh, a woman from Egypt who loses her husband during her pregnancy. She then wants to raise her child alone, which is not allowed by her male relatives, as they believe she should remarry… besides, it was forbidden for her as a woman to work anyway. So she disguises herself as a man to be able to provide for her daughter… and maintains this disguise for over 40 years. Due to this extraordinary sacrifice, she is now considered a heroine by many in Egypt. And through simimi, she is honored with this fragrance here.
The heart note is dominated by vanilla, although the fruity notes still smell quite intense. However, the fruity notes have mostly intertwined by now and radiate more of an overall fruity impression rather than standing out individually. The papaya is still the most distinguishable. What can generally be said is that the fruity notes consist solely of exotic fruits. Otherwise, as mentioned, the vanilla is quite prominent, becoming increasingly intense and powdery.
Over time, the fruity notes in the base become weaker, so that the fragrance later generally smells more of vanilla and amber, which is also really nice. And as so often happens, after many hours, the fragrance only smells of vanilla.
The longevity is also quite good, as the fragrance lasts longer than twelve or fourteen hours on the skin.
Oh, the fragrance has turned out really great. Besides the fact that it smells powdery sweet (which I generally love in women’s fragrances as it makes women smell very nice), it has a certain freshness due to the fruity notes and smells exotic and a bit different from what one is usually accustomed to in fruity fragrances.
If applied heavily, the sweetness could potentially be overwhelming, yet I would describe the fragrance as an all-rounder, although it leans a bit more towards autumn. You can imagine that the fragrance smells quite feminine and in my opinion, it is perfect for going out and celebrating, as it should be well-received. Therefore, I would recommend you to test this fragrance if you ever have the opportunity. It’s just a shame that it’s so expensive…
Hmm… supposedly, Sisa Abu Daooh eventually found pleasure in pretending to be a man, so she continued to dress as a man even after the whole story became known. However, it seems that she knows nothing else, having had to disguise herself as a man her entire life. It’s sad to learn that even today, in 2017, there are still so many countries that are extremely backward in terms of society and the treatment of women… and even sadder that some countries are regressing into this backwardness and no one seems to have the power to change it…
Well, at least she has been honored here with a rather pleasant-smelling fragrance!

The Fragrance:
The fragrance starts off quite sweet, powdery, and fruity. At first, it’s a bit difficult to pick out the individual notes. But then, alongside the general sugary note, you can really smell the papaya, which I find surprisingly pleasant, especially since this note is not commonly encountered in fragrances. In the background, a delicate breeze of neroli wafts. The heart note is dominated by vanilla, although the fruity notes still smell quite intense. However, the fruity notes have mostly intertwined by now and radiate more of an overall fruity impression rather than standing out individually. The papaya is still the most distinguishable. The Sillage and Longevity:
The sillage is quite good, leaving a nice and powdery scent cloud for a moment. This also means that the fragrance can be well perceived by others. The longevity is also quite good, as the fragrance lasts longer than twelve or fourteen hours on the skin.
The Bottle:
The bottle is cylindrical and forms a dome shape towards the neck. The label on the front seems to be made of leather, at least from the photos, which I find nice. The round, gilded cap features very elaborate floral patterns and looks really good. A very beautiful bottle! Oh, the fragrance has turned out really great.
