That's all it takes to win me over... All good things come in threes... Three is a charm, two is not the same... I could go on like this forever!
When I read the 'ingredient list' of this fragrance, I knew right away that it was a test candidate. A real CandyScent. (I didn't really register at the time that it also contained amber.)
I have a divided relationship with amber. In small doses (no, not preserved!) I can tolerate it wonderfully. When it's cranked up too high, however, I find it literally breath-taking - as it is heavy and harsh.
Unfortunately, unfortunately, it is the case here that the amber completely overshadows the other three delights. After spraying, I perceive almost nothing but intense, super harsh amber. Sure, it is probably covered with a thin layer of sugar... but that doesn't really stand a chance against the devilish substance!
As the fragrance develops, the vanilla becomes a bit more dominant. Interestingly, the scent then strongly reminds me of "Hypnotic Poison (Eau de Toilette)", just with a more "masculine" twist. Generally, I am a self-proclaimed opponent of categorizing fragrances into male and female... Nevertheless, I dare to propose that this could be the "Hypnotic Poison pour Homme".
This is how I would imagine it - should Dior one day jump on Mugler's bandwagon and want to make their cash cow for women accessible to men as well.
In the end, however, I am somewhat disappointed. The anticipated gourmand fireworks unfortunately did not happen.
According to the bottle and packaging, this is supposed to be an EdP Intense. However, I consider that more of a rumor. After about 5 hours, I already have to press my nose to my wrist to perceive the scent.
That's how it goes. The scent definitely gives the impression of a sweet treat at first. I can understand the disappointment when the less loved notes come to the forefront too much. But I also say, on to the next one; the world of fragrances is vast and colorful :-)
Thank you for the first impression! Unfortunately, I often struggle with amber too, so I’m out on this one. It’s easy to overlook the notes you don’t like. Based on the notes, it would actually be a blind buy candidate for me. Exactly, those three magic words... often do the trick for me too.
