It's a hard pass...
Let me preface by saying that this review won't be fair to Mandorla del Sud. Lately, I've been trying new fragrances that haven't evoked excitement or any major feelings, so I'm getting fairy annoyed.

Now, Mandarlo del Sud isn't a complex fragrance with juxtaposed notes, it is quite simple, to be honest, which might be my fault to reach for it now.

Almonds, vanilla, sugar and amber. Sounds absolutely delicious, but I have to remind myself not to expect the unexpected. What I do hope for, is a good fragrance that at least makes me think "mmm"...

Up in the air, before I even smell the freshly sprayed paper strip, I get an almond food aroma scent. Like the one my mom used to bake with. Smelling the strip, I'm surprised how delicately sweet this fragrance is despite its note composition.

When coming back from Poland, where I bought my sample, the scent wasn't on Fragrantica (I submitted it in the forum), so I wrote down the notes in hand. Now, when researching if this fragrance has more notes than those four, it has been added to the database and Fragrantica seems to have those four notes stated as the only ones too. The one and only review left on the scent is completely right. Is this even a gourmand? I also get a peppery note and Mandorla del Sud is just so underwhelming. Something about it is quite unpleasant. The peppery note is done very wrong and smells like plastic after dry down. I am not looking forward to trying it on skin.

Mandorla del Sud is an explosion of alcohol. Just after spraying, it felt like having vinegar in my nose. After dry down, the scent has the same peppery note, but on skin it smells like plastic right up front. This is absolutely terrible. It doesn't even smell like a perfume, nor a detergent, but something that is utterly bad. It smells like an inedible herb; sour, earthy, aromatic, in a grass-like manner. Mandorla del Sud has absolutely nothing to do with the wonders of vanilla, depth of amber or nuttiness of almonds. It isn't even sweet like sugar, for crying out loud. My mind keeps wandering around dill, and now it struck me, it smells like the root of horseradish! Mandorla del Sud smells like sticking your nose in a jar filled with the herbs you use to pickle salted cucumbers the way my dad has been doing since always. Not a smell I have ever wished to be made into a perfume. It's a hard pass.

Hypnotic poison in wolf fur
Almond. Icing sugar. Vanilla.

That's all it takes to get me around... All good things come in threes... Three is a charm, two is not the same... I could go on forever like this!

When I read the 'list of ingredients' for this fragrance, I knew directly that it was a test candidate. A real CandyScent. (I didn't really register Amber at that time.)

I have a split relationship with the Amber. In small doses (no, not preserved!) I can bear it wonderfully. Too high, however, I feel it in the truest sense of the word only breath (be) robbing - there heavy and herb.

Unfortunately, unfortunately, it is here now so that the Amber puts the other three delicacies almost completely in the shade. After spraying on, I perceive almost nothing except intense, super bitter Amber. Certainly, he is probably covered with a thin layer of sugar... But she can't really compete with the devil stuff!

In the course of the fragrance the vanilla becomes more dominant. Interestingly, the fragrance is then strongly reminiscent of "Hypnotic Poison (Eau de Toilette)", but with a more "masculine" touch. Basically I am a confessing opponent of the division into male and female fragrances... Nevertheless, I dare to argue that this could be the "Hypnotic Poison pour Homme".

This, or at least something similar, is what I would imagine - should Dior one day jump on Mugler's train and want to make his box-office hit accessible to the lady, also to the gentleman.

But in the end, I'm a little disappointed. The hoped for Gourmandfeuerwerk failed unfortunately to appear.

According to the bottle and packaging, this is supposed to be an EdP Intense. I think that's more of a rumor, though. After about 5 hours I have to press my nose against my wrist to perceive the scent.

Thank you, next!

High above...
... sit on the rooftops of Munich in the Hochkaffee on Marienplatz and enjoy a coffee and a Marzipan cake while watching the carillon of the town hall. It's 5 pm and the spectacle begins.

When applying this fragrance, you are greeted by the scent of roasted almonds rolled in caramelized sugar and topped with a little vanilla sauce. This fragrance will not change over the next 6 to 7 hours. A simple yet beautiful fragrance that is easy to wear.

Once again, this is a beautiful unisex fragrance from Simone Andreoli. Perhaps not necessarily to wear at a meeting but otherwise a great fragrance in spring, fall and winter.

The durability is good and the silage is not bad either.

A fragrance that is recommended.

A pleasantly sweet almond gourmand
Mandorla del Sud, a relatively unknown fragrance from Simone Andreoli. It's a shame, really, because this fragrance is super nice to wear on cooler days. What we have here is a slightly powdery, spicy gourmand with a great sweetness. However, the sweetness is never too heavy or even overwhelming.

The fragrance starts with a really beautiful almond aroma. Slightly nutty, almost marzipan-like and simply delicious. The powdered sugar note also lays itself directly on the almonds and provides that certain sweetness right from the start.

Admittedly, not much more happens in my eyes.
I find that the Mandorla del Sud then brings a slightly spicy facet with it and this amber-vanilla mixture comes to the fore more. That's all there is here, but is that a bad thing?
Not at all! In fact, it's often nice for me not to have huge fragrance gradients.

For some, the whole thing might be a little too boring. Some will miss that certain something. The first time I wore it, I was also a little unsure.
The next time I wore it, it was immediately better and I simply felt comfortable with the fragrance.

I also find the durability and sillage completely fine.
The fragrance lasts about eight hours on my skin. The projection is moderate. Not too much, not too little. Often the Andreoli fragrances are "loud" and really present.
The Mandorla del Sud is more of a pleasant "companion".

Unisex wearable?
Definitely!

Cloudy, delicious, feel-good
For me, Mandorla del Sud is a cloudy world of almonds and sugar.
A fragrance that makes you feel good.

The fragrance is delicate with delicious gourmand notes. You feel comfortably warm. A feeling of home.

This delicious fragrance intoxicates the senses :)

My surroundings notice the scent and I smell it all day long. A must have in every collection

Does anyone else get major baby wipes or even a diaper? It smells just barely better on my skin but still, I can't shake the connotations.

Just getting a whiff of it makes it come across a bit like creme brulee, but up close it's simply too bitter and almond-y

Sickly sweet, slightly nauseating. Definitely can't be worn alone, but could be fantastic as a layering tool to add powder and sweetness.
