Mist over Amber Bay

And then came the mist. Opaque, it seemed to slide over the bay, from the sea, powerful, silently drawing closer. I watched as the still sea suckled it with algae from the green froth, breathing the breath of the ocean into the steam. I was still crouched by the cliffs, fantasizing next to a damp fire that smoldered yawningly, exhaling the smoke of humid woods.
Bright green cloves giggled in the mist, as damp threads frayed at the flanks of the billowing cloud, lining up pearl by pearl before my eyes, American amber, somewhere between communion wafers and honey waffles, on fogged ribbons of sweet musk. Sometimes the spice meadow left stains on my pants. Beneath all that smoky brown amber, it smelled of grass trails and earth. Then gradually the mist receded. Below it, the ocean became clearer, shimmering sepia sandal cream.
***
"Tenebrous Mist" comes across far less gloomy than its name suggests. The initial algae and bay aromas are soon transformed into spicy-woody-creamy amber notes by cloves and wood smoke, in which the smoke remains present for a long time. The oil is predominantly perceptible close to the skin for about five to a maximum of six hours.
Solstice Scents from Gainesville, Florida produce their EdPs and oils in small batches, some seasonally or in rotation. They are thus subject to slight fluctuations and are only available at certain times, which can be found on the homepage.

These are wonderful lines; I could easily get lost in the images and the described scent notes again :).. Close my eyes and take a deep breath once more...

Ah, that was what was giggling in the fog! Yesss!
And it's true, it's an exceptionally friendly and not gloomy scent.
For us sea bears, anyway ;)

Seems like a scent for some bored goths in Florida hanging out with the crocodiles. Back in the day, they smelled like patchouli, I mean the goths. And the crocs smelled like algae. The gentlemen used to smell like tobacco, leather, and citrus. And the ladies delicately like flowers, vanilla, musk, and oriental scents. Today, wood smoke, algae, sea spray, and amber are supposed to create fragrance sensations. Okay, why not, if they like it. Anyway - I don't really like perfume oil. And I definitely don't want to smell like algae and fog. ;-)

Beautifully described, and I always perk up at the mention of amber.

Your description is beyond any doubt, but I'm not so sure about the scent. The first part of your comment is almost frightening! But I'm happy to go for the full 40 :-)

You create the most unusual images with your words... and I can just see your outline on the cliffs - rising from the damp fire with spice meadow stains on your pants out of the thick fog ;)) ... beautifully written.....

.. I can imagine what this amber might be like between wafer paper and honey waffles - but I probably wouldn't want to smell the seaweed notes. Still, I really like the picture you're painting!

It's great how you always discover such interesting scents and describe them so impressively! I did feel a bit chilly while following along, but I enjoyed it nonetheless. Now I'm in the mood for a Hot Toddy (which you have ready too, right? ;)

It's great that you wrote the first comment on this little-known scent. As always, imaginative and eloquent. I do like clove, but not as Bay Rum.

At first, I thought of The Fog, but the honey waffles and sweet musk really relaxed my senses again. ;))

Strong piece of ten, that comment. Making a whole out of many small pieces again. It's lovely how it all comes together. Trophies lining up one after another. I see I still need to practice my gratitude;-)

In addition to what was said below, I’d like to add my vision of Robinson, waiting on his box with the saving hosts, waffles, and musk. He doesn’t care at all about his pants. Such a beautiful experience by the sea... :-)

Reading this reminded me a bit of "Treasure Island," which fits perfectly with the olfactory treasure you've uncovered. Big sea adventure & kraken trophy! (and the bottle full of rum)

Another fantastic comment from you, which inevitably reminded me of John Carpenter's The Fog after reading the first few lines. Luckily, the scent, as you mentioned, is nowhere near as dark and gloomy...

I also love to daydream about snacking on honey waffles ;)
You've conjured up a mysterious, exciting trip to the autumn sea for me! Thank you for that!

The comment is once again beautifully written and exceptional, but it gave me chills at the beginning. Whenever I read or hear about fog rolling in from the sea over the bay, I can't help but think of my trauma, the horror movie "The Fog" :S And now I'm worried about the man by the fire! ;)

Your comment instantly evokes images of coastlines and natural forces in me, and it brings along a fascinating vibe. I also like the way the manufacturer’s fragrance production is described. I just fear that I wouldn’t like the scent itself. Musk at the forefront, and then described as creamy - I’d probably have to pass.
