a Sunday in bed
I had this scent in mind for a long time, but Francesca di Massimo confirmed to me in response to my inquiry last year that Europe can expect this very personal birthday gift in a bottle for Dottore Giovanni di Massimo (born 1941), the head of "I Profumi di Firenze," only from April 2020 onwards.
Until then, "Chiara 41" was only available in America or as a sampler included with a fragrance order through Francesca herself.
Of course, I became curious: the advertising for it appeared so wonderfully feminine and ethereal - it practically called my name.
So Gelis and I, who share some Facebook fragrance posts, speculated whether we would like this creation.
Because we have been exchanging thoughts behind the scenes of Profumo for quite some time.
Once again, it turned out that it is very rare for us to find a match in our scent perceptions. This is particularly noticeable with the lighter compositions.
Usually, the fragrances that develop so wonderfully on me and chat away happily are almost insignificant on her, sometimes even a bit musty: as if we were talking about two completely different beings.
So it is here as well; but I would like to take this opportunity to thank for the generous sample.
Because as expected: I like "Chiara 41."
"A girl and her bed on Sundays are an endless Love Affair!"
The truly fitting time to celebrate this Love Affair is yet to come: gray and cold days when the bed is the most inviting place at home and is only left reluctantly, and then only with quiet grumbling.
A soft, cozy blanket is the most important thing then: this is what "Chiara 41" offers me.
Everything begins with a herbal mix of cardamom, coriander, and a lot of freshly cut grass and mint, which, by the way, accompanies me for quite a while. It develops on my skin into the delicate head of this scent dancer.
Other intensely fragrant herbs found on a walk through the macchia accompany the soon-to-appear lavender.
Lavender is also such a changeable being for me: it can smell herbal and slightly prickly or accompany the classic freshness. (Yatagan is now a lavender scent specialist!)
Here, however, it develops its tender, embracing effect, like a soft cuddly scent blanket. Even I, who usually have a bit of a conflict with it, am successfully flattered this time; cleverly utilizing the persistent mint note.
Who uses whom here, I cannot figure out: but I really don't care.
The scent result is already very inviting, and the stability that is still lacking is already hinted at by incense.
Not one of those dark, resinous-biting types of incense: no, a bright - yes, almost transcendent - incense gift underscores the spicy herbs and grounds their lightness.
Speaking of earth: of course, patchouli must not be missing. Its golden-brown scent flows deliciously onto the incense-herb bed and seemingly waits for the things to come.
And the wait is worth it!
Vanilla, in its most beautiful warming form, frolics here with generous musk notes.
Of course, Aphrodite must not be missing and can join in!
A scent that is completely without a hint of light feminine allure - no, that cannot be!
Because "Chiara 41" is a thoroughly feminine fragrance.
A bit of sandalwood, providing a slightly sweaty warmth, and the spicy cedar conclude this still very airy-light composition.
But without the luxury of golden amber glow, this fragrance would not be an appropriate birthday gift: a little sparkle must be there!
"Chiara 41" is a very transparent fragrance creation, and this lack of physicality may also explain its fleetingness.
It seems to be a scent of a dream between past and future, lovingly brushing against the present and lingering briefly.
Longevity and sillage are in line with an eau de toilette; after all, the predecessor scent is also called "Acqua di Chiara."
But I am quite honest: I sometimes like to spray again and then follow the scent development.
It is always an astonishing experience!
I find this creation sympathetic precisely because it completely avoids the usual citrus fruits and relies only on the herbs that can be found on a walk through wide southern meadows. So completely without a "fresh kick"!
Nothing is biting or scratchy; everything is soft and cuddly.
Of course, "Chiara 41" is also suitable for everyday use; but for a Sunday in bed, it is the optimal cuddly scent that spreads light, sunshine, and warmth.
