This very affordable fragrance is located at the bottom of the perfume shelf in the drugstore, among the discounted items. But as it is in life - bending down can definitely be worth it :)
The 30 ml bottle is, as with all Spirit Of fragrances, very handy and simple. The new packaging is commendable. Only cardboard without plastic now. The cardboard packaging, featuring pink magnolias on a black background and gold lettering, is really very appealing.
The sprayer is also of good quality.
The perfume itself starts off quite alcoholic. Yes, I can only agree, for the first while it smells somewhat unbalanced and quite synthetic. Definitely wait for the first half hour. Once the white flowers have dissipated, a noble powdery musk begins to unfold its effect, supported by amber and woods. This is the phase where this fragrance reminds me a lot of Narciso Poudrée and Ambrée. It somehow lies in between. In the drydown, it resembles Poudrée more for me.
Spirit of Black Magnolia certainly does not match the sillage and longevity of Narcisos, but it smells really good and quite high-quality. I find this truly remarkable given the very low price. Moreover, it definitely still has its own character.
On me, it lasts between 3 and 4 hours. At no point do I get too much of the perfume, and I am genuinely surprised by the good price-performance ratio.
I have to say, it smells that way to me too. The flowers at the beginning are a bit off-putting, but I can overlook that. I wouldn't guess that the scent is this affordable just by smelling it; Spirit perfumes always surprise me!
