Along the shingle of the coast the hazy seaweed creeps from the sea, hissing through smoldering fires on the beach, where grass roots are burned and salt crystals burst. The thick smoke blazes across the bay, through wooded slopes at the edge of the night, where sage-green the last light still glows above the trees and the darkness itself begins to glow from the barks, the roots and needles. Now you feel the cooling breeze of the pines on the spicy shadows of the knotty cedars, you see the ethereal glow of the cypresses from countless lemon candles for hours still glowing softly with the sparks of the fires on the beach.
