It's 2023 and I'm trying a perfume from 2013 that was meant to be a vision of 2022, but the opening gives me flashbacks to perfumes I played with at my grandma's house as a child in the 1990s, which I think might have been issued in the 1970s.
So much bitter galbanum! Such soapy green florals! And is there a hint of indolic jasmine behind the clean notes? Yes, I think so. This really smells very retro. Not like the trends of 2022 at all.
There is a little twist on the old-school notes though. Namely the nectarine, which is fresh and underripe and not like the fuzzy warm peach notes in older perfumes. The slight powdery sweetness of tonka, almond and heliotrope is another modern addition to the scent, but to my nose, the galbanum stays the most dominant note even as the scent dries down and reveals more of its warm base.
Now I like all the other listed notes in theory, but I'm not a huge fan of galbanum or vintage green florals. Therefore this isn't for me. I would recommend it to anyone who enjoys those and is looking for a modern fragrance in this style.
