Ludens Cough Drop

I’m a sucker for cherry perfume, so jumped when I saw this one.
If you remember back in the old days they had this cough drop called Ludens. It was a small red disc and we ate them more as candy and not so much as a cough drop. They had no medicine in them, so basically it really was just candy. Well, this perfume is exactly that in my opinion. I’ve read that some people think it smells like cherry Coke, but I don’t get the Coke note.
It’s just pure candied cherry to me and I love it for its simplicity.

Fragrance that goes the "Candy" way!

I came to this candy sensation through "detours." It was my niece who was in the USA about 4 years ago. She found it in a dedicated store in San Francisco. She wanted to make me happy, knowing that I collect perfumes. She said these stores are somewhat comparable to our Yves Rocher branches.
Well, the fragrance has almost been forgotten until I wanted to grab a new bottle of shampoo from the bathroom cabinet and couldn't find it right away. Search... search... it must be there. I did find the shampoo, but also this bottle. Which now gets its "review."
It's not really my style, but it's well made for lovers of "candy scents."
There are fruity black cherries alongside mandarins. It's also adorned with some flowers: gardenia and freesia create a floral duet. And a lot of vanilla, sweetened, but I can't quite sniff out where the special "candy note" comes from. In the dry down, it strikingly reminds me of English fruit drops, which I do enjoy sucking on from time to time, but as a perfume, it is clearly too "gourmand" for me. Is this "typically American," such a fragrance direction? Among all my scents in the collection, I haven't come across this particular aroma yet. I think fragrances of this kind are rare here and form an exception. I do like the cherry and the floral mandarins, but the "sweetness" is less appealing to me....
