Where the trees
Carry incense
On barkless
Dry trunks
Whose roots
Pulse with shoe cream
And traces of balm
From whales

Reads like a dream of green incense from lands near a prehistoric maquis that was once an ocean floor...

At first, we were on the same page, but then it became very powdery and unpleasant for me...

I'm definitely on board with frankincense... and aside from the shoe cream, it sounds pretty good!

I should give it another try; back then, I wasn't really into incense. It sounds great from your description, though.

The amber whales here seem to be more like Ambrox robots for me, compared to his other scents, but otherwise, it's a good fresh incense.

The amber smells quite authentic to me in the base.. @Schoeibksr

Thanks to Bosworth. It's an intriguing progression, but it doesn't quite resonate with me: it starts with a greenish coolness (Petitgrain, coriander) of incense, which soon takes on a strange shoe polish note, probably the amber from the base mixed with resin and wood. Gradually, the dry wood becomes more prominent, and finally, the balsamic amber stands out. In the base, amber remains.
