This fragrance captivated me from the very first moment and almost forced me to buy it. I was in the wonderful castle perfumery of our town to look at another scent when this extraordinary bottle drew me in. It reminded me of my mother's perfume bottles, which had no labels or inscriptions. I must say that the bright red of the bottle made a rather intrusive impression on me, but it changes depending on the time of day and reveals many different shades of red, from Bordeaux to scarlet. The gold on the bottle seems to take on a submissive role, as it only highlights the facets of the red tones. Since I was very disappointed with the fragrance that I had initially entered the perfumery for, I smelled the sample of "Red Potion" that was available.
Do you know the scene from the movie Ratatouille, when the restaurant critic Anton Ego tries the ratatouille at Gusteau's and is transported back to his childhood? I had that exact feeling with this fragrance. At first, it was the conquering and burnt orange that took possession of me. One is almost overwhelmed; it is a strong moment, not as subtle as the scents I usually like. The marigold seems to fight against it, creating a dance between unhappy lovers with the Nutcracker Pas de deux in the background. As it develops further, the dance becomes smoother, and one is greeted by the spicy rosemary, which gives the fragrance depth. This frees one from a pure sweetness, slipping out of the cocoon of a classic sweet scent. Finally, the fragrance whispers to you, as if you are being covered by fairies in a dark and foggy labyrinth on the softest and coziest bed you can imagine. Only memories remain, which seem to last forever.
The fragrance lasts forever on my skin, and every time I wear it, I discover something new. Many would probably describe it as a classic winter and autumn scent, but I think it also does justice to the sweetness of spring and the restlessness of summer.
"Red Potion" is not just a fragrance I like or love. This scent touches me and makes me emotional in a blissful way. I can only recommend that everyone try it at least once. My absolute favorite fragrance, a clear recommendation from me!
